Favorite thing: Melanesias greatest contribution to the world is probably the most remarkable custom, land diving or ‘Nagol’ from Pentecost. Which has been witnessed in 1979 by a visitor who later introduced it to New Zealand as bungee jumping with rubber lines instead of vines. Nowadays it's the hype with adrenalin junkies who emulate something the Pentecost men have been doing for hundreds of years.
Every year in April and May, a 20 to 30-metre tower is constructed for the land diving ceremony.
Fondest memory: The bushwalking is both challenging and rewarding.
