The whole territory is off the beaten path, even the capital Mata Utu is a small village. If you really want to get away from all, you can hire a boat on Futuna Island to tiny Alofi Island. This island is used for gardening by the people of Futuna. Ask at the Hotel de ville or at the Gendarmarie, they know the owners, who give you the permission.
