Click here for Map of Anguilla Visit all the beaches, which are the best feature of the island. (East) Shoal Bay [pic], Barnes Bay and the beach by the Cap Juluca luxury hotel are all wonderful and pelicans will dive right beside you at Shoal Bay.
Swimming off the best beaches, often deserted. Most beaches are totally safe for swimming, but note that a couple are lethal! Captain's Bay is one; another is Windward Point, on the eastern tip of the island, off which the Atlantic meets the Caribbean.Windward Point The surf is high and ferocious (by contrast to the calm waters off most beaches on the island) and the undertow murderous. I myself nearly drowned there --seriously--despite being a very strong swimmer. The high surf knocked me flying ( I weigh well over 200 pounds). I was rolled over, got up and was knocked flat again and dragged back. When I crawled out, up the very steep beach, my trunks were almost ripped to shreds and I was scratched all over from pieces of coral (again a contrast to the perfect soft sand elsewhere on the island). by jonuga My best memory about Anguilla is the people who live there. They cannot be more friendly than they are. Everybody says hello to you even when they dont know you and they are willing to help you. Leave a Comment

by jonuga Waters are clearer than anywhere else in the Caribbean. It is supposed to be a good place for snorkeling although I did not try. I went there in October which is low season and the most amazing thing was that I was alone with my friends in a 2km long beach. Where could that happen somewhere else? Besides, low season is pretty cheap. Leave a Comment

visit junks hole and have a discusion with the owner/chef nat richardson. this place/beach is truly incredible . miles of beach and blue water....also great food/ribs/caribbean lobster. you can get lounge chairs /rafts/umbrellas here. spend the day it will be memorable.
i miss the people who live there. they are some of the fiendliest people in the caribbean. my best memory is dining at junks hole at nite. we called and ordered lobster . when we got there the sun was setting .we were the only people there. the lobster and the setting with miles of beach and palm trees is a great memory to hang on too. will try and get some pix on my site. Rent a car, don't be afraid you can't get lost there only 1 road around the island. Remember left is right and right is wrong when driving there. Leave a Comment

by dreamworld I was already twice in Anguilla. First time in 1994 where I spent 3 wonderful days, and more recently in 1999 for a 2 days excursion from St.Maarten.
Having toured most of the Carribean small islands, I found Anguilla being one of the MOST PLEASANT ones !!!! I really love it. The only bad point being that it is very flat and dry comparing to other islands in the area, Still beaches are 'heaven on Earth', uncrowded and extremely photogenic. People is so great and nice !!!! OK, this island, like most of the Carribean, is not really for 'poor' tourists. But it's affordable if you do an excursion from St.Maarten. Anguilla recently became famous for honeymooners !!! And I understand why. Leave a Comment

I think the most memorable experience I had was going to Moonsplash 2002. Moonsplash is Anguilla's annual weekend reggae festival hosted by Bankie Banx at the Dune Preserve. It was an amazing trip. We ended up going to the show both nights, and on Saturday we danced to the music of DJ Roy until 5 in the morning.
I think my fondest all around memory of Anguilla would have to be the people I met while there. Everyone on the island is so incredibly friendly! You just feel so welcome the entire time you are there. Leave a Comment
