My favourite restaurant was the Straw Hat, built on stilts in the Forest neighbourhood. That restaurant was, I think (not sure) destroyed in late 1999 by a hurricane (as had happened on a previous occasion) but if so has no doubt been rebuilt. Stilted architecture and view.Superb service from local people ( and efficient American owner). The young barman was one of the best I've seen anywhere. Long live his mango dacquiris!
Daiquiris! After which, tuna steaks. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: 'Forest' area...no trees now, though, just a name. About ten minutes by car from The Valley, the centre of island life. (1) E's Oven (2) Tasty's (3) The Health Nook (4) Roti Hut (1) The value for money is very good here. The atmosphere is casual with friendly service. (2) Tasty's is a bit touristy. Most of the customers are tourists. (3) The health nook is relatively new and seemed to appeal mostly to locals. For me it was a God-send since I don't eat meat. (4) Tiny place, but nice patio for dining. You may have a bit of wait for your food, but it's totally worth it.
(1) Pumpkin soup - to die for!!!!!! A suprisingly good vegetable pasta in broth. I was told the curry chicken and the hamburgers were also good. (2) Nice American-style breakfasts and omelettes. Salad with Goat Cheese was also quite good. (3) Fabulous vegetarian items. The have veggie patties made daily and usually at least one entree at lunchtime. They also carry lots of vegetarian products for home cooking. (4) Amazing rotis. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Off the main road (of course!)Other Contact: Prices in US dollars, but don't

there are soo many great restaurants on anguilla. but this place rafes is out of the norm. rafes does not open till the wee hours. it is actually an after hrs. kinda place. they do ribs and chicken on a makeshift b-b-que. it is all open air and looks out over a cliff to the water. the bar rocks with locals and a few tourists.

Big Jim's seems to be a local hangout. I was probably the only one of our group who liked it. They serve barbeque ribs and whatever their special is going to be for the day. It's very casual where you can order from the window and sit at the picnic tables out front. They do have some tables inside as well. You can't beat the prices and the servings were more than generous.

This is a great spot to get lunch. You can get a great burger or grilled chicken sandwich for 5 or 6 US dollars. It an open air resturant where many tourists and locals go.

As for dining, we did not have a bad meal. We loved walking down to Cedar Grove at Rendezvous Bay Hotel and Villas where we stayed. The on-the-water setting, friendly service and delicious food at Straw Hat made for a special evening. For more casual dining, we really enjoyed Tastey’s and Smokeys. The latter is also on the water, but our view was lost when yet another thunderstorm brought strong winds and a driving rain against which the window covers had to be lowered. by Chris_Sopko Cap Juluca has perhaps two of the best restaurants on the island. Very expensive, but good! Leave a Comment

by iancoles Outstanding service in beautiful beach-side location on Mead's Bay. Very close to local top hotels (Cap Julcua, CusinArt). Courteous service with gorgeous food. Leave a Comment

At night at Cap Juluca by ktduncan Not bad, but not great. $120 for a buffet? Was about as good as most buffets too - average. A comparable buffet would be at Ladera in St Lucia which was better and a bit cheaper. I don't know, I just have a problem with paying $120 to wait in line to serve myself. We were not guests there, but the saving grace was that we went during the managers social night, so we got some free drinks to offset the price. Not to mention you get to meet the guests, some of which are pretty interesting. For the $$ and the quality, I would have rather eaten at Corals, Johnos, or Grillers 20 times over and still $$ for more than my fair share of beer. Leave a Comment
