Corals on Meads Bay: Great Mediterranean in the Caribbean

by ktduncan

We ate here more than we should have, almost once a day, but the view and the food were equally impressive. It overlooks arguably the best beach in the world, but you can watch dolphins swim next to your table while eating hummus. The owner (Mamout or something like that) was really helpful. He even called around to find us the best deal on renting a car and kind of scloded us for spending too many meals there. The menu and the location might rank this as my favorite restaraunt. Tabouli was pretty good. We usually ordered several different appetizers.

Grillers: Cheap food on an expensive island

by ktduncan

Grillers is a new and located on the main road, near Shoal Bay and Johnnos. This place had good local food for cheap. Which is nice in that most restaurants on the island will set you back almost $100 USD for two.

(1) E's Oven(2) Tasty's(3) The Health Nook(4) Roti Hut(1) The value for money is very good here. The atmosphere is casual with friendly service.(2) Tasty's is a bit touristy. Most of the customers are tourists.(3) The health nook is relatively new and seemed to appeal mostly to locals. For me it was a God-send since I don't eat meat. (4) Tiny place, but nice patio for dining. You may have a bit of wait for your food, but it's totally worth it. (1) Pumpkin soup - to die for!!!!!!A suprisingly good vegetable pasta in broth.I was told the curry chicken and the hamburgers were also good.(2) Nice American-style breakfasts and omelettes. Salad with Goat Cheese was alsoquite good.(3) Fabulous vegetarian items. The have veggie patties made daily and usually at least one entree at lunchtime. They also carry lots of vegetarian products for home cooking.(4) Amazing rotis.

My favourite restaurant was the Straw Hat, built on stilts in the Forest neighbourhood. That restaurant was, I think (not sure) destroyed in late 1999 by a hurricane (as had happened on a previous occasion) but if so has no doubt been rebuilt.Stilted architecture and view.Superb service from local people ( and efficient American owner). The young barman was one of the best I've seen anywhere. Long live his mango dacquiris! Daiquiris! After which, tuna steaks.

Olivers: Great Seafood

It's a nice resturant on the beach overlooking Meads bay. Great sunset views during dinner. The grouper was excellent! I have a feeling it's all good. A bit pricey though.

This is a great spot to get lunch. You can get a great burger or grilled chicken sandwich for 5 or 6 US dollars. It an open air resturant where many tourists and locals go. Hamburger and Orange Fanta

Blanchards: Family Run Fine Dining Restaurant

Outstanding service in beautiful beach-side location on Mead's Bay. Very close to local top hotels (Cap Julcua, CusinArt). Courteous service with gorgeous food.

Cap Juluca Restaurants

Cap Juluca has perhaps two of the best restaurants on the island. Very expensive, but good!
