The fact, that I was walking along a beach in Barbuda, without knowing the real size of the island (see: Warnings and Dangers), is the reason why I don’t have a clue where I have really been. Fact is that I was on a beach, almost steadily walking for five hours and didn’t see a single human soul. I had my own paradise for a limited time, left my backpack alone at the beach to swim around in the ocean and spent some time watching pelicans. Some signs of human civilization are still visible. In the south of low bay, there is a bar, a luxury hotel and also the ruins of some former condo building. At one point (not sure, if Cedar Tree Point) another luxury hotel can be seen, but all of these places are far enough away from the beach that they can easily be ignored. Beyond that point, a pink beach gives you not only a change of landscape, but from here, you’ll have the possibility to observe several birds catching fish. Walk onto the dunes, and you’ll have a look at Codrington Lagoon. It’s so close, that it is no problem to go there and try out the water at the other side of the land. And if you are lucky, you may even see one of the frigate birds from the nearby sanctuary.
Coming from the ferry dock in Barbuda, walk northwards and when the road splits into two, keep left and find a path into the bushland. The water is just a short walk away.Related to:
