The Inn at English Harbour: Breakfast or Lunch at The Inn

by janiebaxter

The Inn at English Harbour is open to non- residents for breakfast and lunch and these are served at the beachside restaurant, rather than the more formal terrace restaurant where dinner is served. The beachside restaurant is literally right on the beach overlooking the bay and is open on 2 sides, taking advantage of the sea breeze. Although the atmosphere is more casual than the main restaurant it still retains its classy professional service and you are not allowed to eat in your swimwear - you have to cover up.Breakfast is a choice of Continental buffet with fresh juice, fruit, yoghurt, breads or toast, ham and cheese, A la carte from the menu or English breakfast with bacon, eggs, tomatoes etc. The bacon here is particularly good - very tasty, perfectly cooked and fatty but not too much, cooked crisp.Breakfast is around $20 to $30.Lunch is from the A la carte menu and includes pasta...

The Inn at English Harbour: Dinner at The Inn

The Inn at English Harbour is a small exclusive hotel with a terrace restaurant overlooking the bay at English Harbour, which is open to non-residents for dinner.Food is very good, if a little expensive! Starters include lobster and asparagus, layered crab, lobster bisque, pasta and smoked salmon and are between $12 and $20. Mains are between $25 and $50 and include Fillet of Beef, Fish Curry, Pork, Tilapia and Red Snapper. Wines are very expensive starting at $35 for South African red.New Year's Eve dinner here was extremely good and was 9 courses for $120 - Consomme, Smoked Salmon and Shrimp Tempura, Roast Duck with Wok Fried Veg, Sauteed Scallops, Black Pepper Fillet of Beef/Pan Fried Red Snapper with Lobster Tail, Orange Chocolate Mille Feuille Mousse, Cheese Plate. There was live music and dancing and a good view of the fireworks from Nelsons Harbour at midnight.Service is good and...

Catherine's Cafe: Lunch at Catherine's

by janiebaxter

Catherine's Cafe is a very popular lunch venue right on the quayside at English Harbour. It attracts upmarket tourists, residents and people with yachts moored nearby. There are tables inside but the large terrace on the waterfront is where most people like to eat. Here you can people watch and admire the scenery of the coastline and the very impressive yachts moored in the harbour and sailing past.It has a lovely lively atmosphere and is very busy at lunchtime. Having said that we didn't have to wait for a table and the food is served very quickly. The menu consists of around 10 starters or small dishes and 5 mains. I chose Lobster pasta which was delicious, with plenty of succulent lobster and accompanied by very crisp, warm French bread and butter. Other choices include clams, foi gras, mussels, prawns, sirloin steak, pork kebabs and mahi mahi. The wine list is good with enough choice....
