    More a Valuables/Credit Card Tip

by janiebaxter Updated Jan 14, 2009

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This tip concerns the forces of nature, and is not a criticism of the restaurant or people! I wasn't really sure where to put it....
Beware of the spaces between the planks on the waterfront terrace at English Harbour if you eat at any of the restaurants here. We ate at Catherine's Cafe, a wonderful lunch venue, but hadn't bargained for
    A) It is on a deck above the sea
    B) There is a breeze
So, after we had finished lunch I wandered off to the ladies facilities and returned to find my husband in a state of panic. He had put his credit card on the table to pay the bill and the breeze had blown it through the gap in the decking into the water beneath. Luckily I had another card back at the hotel.....
So husband decided he could get the card back by diving under the deck, into the water. Needless to say I wasn't too happy about this but he insisted it would be fine. In the meantime the restaurant owner had heard what had happened and brought her small son to go same route as husband. Apparently he's used to it! Husband retrieved card from the sea and we paid the bill. Then the waitress related tales of diamond rings disappearing down there................Just be careful!
See separate tip on Catherine's Cafe - a wonderful place for lunch!

Unique Suggestions: Make sure your valuables are out of the way of the breeze and not liable to fall down the gaps in the decking.
