RELAX !!!, poco-poco...When...

by Jefvdw

RELAX !!!, poco-poco...When you visit Aruba you absolutly must: NOTHING !!!You can LAY on the beach, HANG on a bar, FLOAT on the water and if you get tired of this you HIDE under a palm tree.. What I miss? The gentleness, people always been friendly, nice, respectfull on this small island. When I am out, in the great big world outside AUA, people are cold and far away from the real things of life. (see: relax, no-thing, lay, hang, float, hide)

The thing I didn't realize...

by briana77

The thing I didn't realize about Aruba was it's vast desert-like environment. Renting a jeep and simply driving around the island was worth the entire trip. Our trip to Aruba was centered around the Solar Eclipse. Standing on the beach...taking pictures as these two colossal giants created a glowing hole in the greying sky.

by Ruza

Aruba's main beach is Eagle beach. It is a very small island, only 19miles x 8 miles wide. The climate is dry and fresh and the beach has white sand and calm waters. There are trees that grow there called divi-divi. They grow only in one direction because of the wind. See photo.

Get wet! The water here is beautiful! Feel safe! I felt more safe here as a woman traveling alone than anywhere else in the Caribbean! Period. Sitting on the beach at 2am with a nice bottle of wine. Dipping my toes in the warm water....I truly felt that I didn't have a care in the world. This picture is of the cortyard at the Hyatt.Aruba has to main beaches which the majority of tourists go to:Eagle Beach is a well-visited public beach for locals, replete with shaded picnic areas and plenty of parking right off the main road. Several low-rise hotels are nearby, just off the street from the beach.Palm Beach is famous for calm waters and is located right in front of the luxurious high-rise hotel stretch of the island. It also has some beaches that are better for snorkeling:Hadikurari Beach is located just south of the lighthouse near the northwestern tip of Aruba and is known for terrific...

Visit La Paloma Restaurant.Well known for their complete Italian and seafood menu that will please both your appetite and wallet.Location:Noord #39,only 5 min. drive from all hotels. The natural beauty, the sugar white beaches, the luxury of the resorts and the exiting casino nightlife.

by Danby63

One thing about Aruba is that it is very much a desert. It reminded me of Arizona (cactus tress, etc.) but it had a much more tropical feel to it. Could be the fact that it is surrounded by ocean. They just don't get much rain. The beach was very nice and the water fairly warm. We experienced a nice snorkeling bed at 'Baby Beach.'Food was good. El Gaucho (Argentinan) and Driftwood were both good restaurants. I enjoyed snorkeling about the best. Just being in the water was a great treat.

I would rent a car and tour the island. There are so many wonderful restaurants which can be supplied by the activity director where you are staying. We own a time share for three weeks at the Aruba Beach Club and to back every year.

Oranjestad the capital of...

by Arubasun.

Oranjestad the capital of Aruba has become a destination within a destination. This town went through many changes both good and bad. The good being that the whole waterfront area of the city has received a facelift and the city has become very photogenic. The bad being traffic, waterfront Oranjestad can be jammed with traffic all day because so many city attractions are concentrated in the same boulevard strip. Oranjestad is the Dutch word for Orange City. The city was named after the last name of the Royal Dutch Family which is 'van Oranje'. Go to travelogues for more Oranjestad pics.
