    Sailors aside, how many of you can claim that you have been on a submarine? Probably not too many so this is your chance! Atlantis offers a submarine tour of the waters. You first get picked up at the dock and take a boat ride to deeper waters where you transfer onto the submarine. Yes, you transfer right in mid-water. But don't worry, they dock against each other and the staff help you across via a little "bridge". Then you submerge and off you go on a trek of the seas. It's interesting being underwater and seeing what's down there - reefs, shipwrecks and lots of fish. The sub maneuvers around some tight spots and even gets close to touching the bottom a few times. I have to admit that after the first 20 minutes of the sub ride, I got bored. Everything through the portholes has a green tinge and looks the same. I was more intrigued with the boat-to-sub docking process. But it's still quite an experience that you can brag to your friends when you get home.

    You must one time experience the fireworks display on the island of Aruba during New Years. Many businesses in Oranjestad often light up the famous "pagara" during the daylight of hours of every December 31st. The biggest pagara is lit up at waterfront Oranjestad. I you really want to feel as if you got rid of the old year, Oranjestad is the place to be.

    The only thing that my husband and I did while we were in Aruba was we took a taxi to the Aloe Factory in the middle of the island. Although we went on our own, we some how got counted in a bus tour that was there and we didn't wind up paying the $6 per person for the tour...Truthfully, I would have been mad if I did have to pay! The tour was sorta interesting but short and really didn't leave a great impression on me.
