Iguana Joe's: Iguana Joe's

by Ischyros

Located on the upper level of the Royal Plaza Mall in downtown Oranjestad, this open-air restaurant offers some surprisingly good food. The food is fairly reminiscent of southwest American grills, but seems to be better tasting in my opinion. The restaurant can be a bit noisy at times due to it's location on the main road through town, but it's not terrible. Do your best to get a table on the covered outdoor area as opposed to indoors, although the entire restaurant is open-air. This place is probably the most popular restaurant in Aruba so during regular dining hours you will probably have quite a wait on your hands. Iguana Joe's is so popular, it has a sister site in the Palm Beach/High Rise area called Smokey Joe's.

TAKE AWAY: WHERE THE LOCALS EAT

by LoriPori

After we left Alto Vista Chapel, it was lunch time and we were all getting hungry. Herry asked if we liked soup. I said yes, but Herry it's 30 degrees out and hot hot hot! but OK. So we went to Santa Cruz at a little local TAKE AWAY place with a parking lot full of cars parked every which way. It was full of locals having lunch. Ilona called it a "Dive" hehe. It was simple but the soup was absolutely wonderful. It should have been called stew instead, as it had huge chunks of meat and potatoes, along with macaroni, all in a delicious spicy broth. We even got to chat with the locals. That was fun Herry. Thanks.

DON CARLOS RISTORANTE ITALIANO: ITALIAN RESTAURANT IN ORANJESTAD

by LoriPori

As part of the dinner and cruise we went on with Ilona and Herry, we ate at DON CARLOS RISTORANTE ITALIANO right on the harbourfront in downtown Oranjestad. As there was many other folks from cruise boats the restaurant was filled to capacity. It was a HUGE restaurant open-air concept so there was a wonderful breeze flowing through. We were seated right near the dock and it was so romantic there with all the lights. I must say the service was quick, efficent. I had the salad as a starter and my main dish was chicken parmigiana which was moist and wonderful - melted in my mouth delicious. Also had a side of penne with their homemade tomato sauce. For dessert I had tiramisu, which was OK but I have had better.Along with our meal we were offered a glass of wine and coffee/tea. Overall we enjoyed our meal very much and would go back.

FISHES & MORE " THE RESTAURANT": GREAT SEAFOOD!!!

by LoriPori

Located in the Arawak Gardens in Palm Beach FISHES & MORE RESTAURANT opened up just 3 and a half years ago and has been a great success since day one. The owners Jeroen Kuling and Hans Heijink together with their staff including Chef Gerben, work hard keeping the restaurant open 7 days a week from 4 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. The ambiance at the restaurant is wonderful, especially outside on the terrace where you can enjoy the tropical breeze and daily live music. Most come in early for the daily fresh catches, such as Red Snapper, grouper, mahi mahi, wahoo and tuna. Check with the server to find out about the "Catch of the Day" prepared the way you like it best - grilled, deep-fried or pan-fried. Every Wednesday, seafood specials are prepared depending on what the Fishermen bring in fresh out of the water that afternoon. These specials usually include fresh Caribbean lobster and pounds of...

Fishes N More: Catch the Early Bird Special!

by ZTraveler

Found this on VT and went to try it thinking it was on the beach near the Radisson. Found out it's NOT. It is actaully across the street from the Radisson in a small plaza that has several other restaurants. I had made 630pm reservations in order to enjoy a beach sunset. Did not get the beach sunset, but I did get a 3-course meal for $19.95 and a plasant evening dining alfresco on the plaza. The Meal was soup, fish - any way U want it, and dessert. It was definitely the best buy on the island.ZT The Early Bird Special.

Madame Janette's: Best Steak I've had in years!!!

by ZTraveler

This was the best meal I had in Aruba!!!But like all diamonds in the rough, it is well hiden.I had Madame's famous Burgerloin. described on the menu as "Prime Tenderloin, cut in two halfs and filled with sautaed onions, mushrooms and cheese topped with a good dash of our sauce Bearnaise." It Melted in my mouth. It also came with a side of "Madame Janette's Famous Potato Gratin". This dish was made with Gouda and serveral other cheeses. I was in Cheese Heaven.Check out their web site http://madamejanette.arubahost.com/index.php3?h=326And use the map on the site. It helps alot. One more thing, the ambiance was so nice that we made new friends who heard me raving about the food. They treated us to some wine and we ended up spending a great time with new friends.ZT Madame's famous Burgerloin
