All the luxury hotels have expensive restaurants and amenities. If you want the LOCAL FLAVOR go to a local barber/hairdresser, eat where the locals eat, hang around the bars in San Nicolas! Take a few bus rides or mini busses. Did you know that hotels charge double for a hair coloring or similar services if you are a tourist and 50% less if you are a local? If you can get away, without showing a residence permit, you can get some services half the price.. Leave a Comment

by Bunununu This is not a 'trap' but I just had to show you this Aruban sunset. You can get some great sunset pictures at the LaTrattoria restaurant by the lighthouse. For this reason, it may be the best happy hour on the island.

A boat with a few glass windows underneath the boat that you had to stand up to see under the ocean. Though it was cheap, just go snorkeling, don't waste your money.
At least go on the Jolly Pirate Ship if you want to see underwater. You will realize how much better Jolly Pirates is than this.

A very expensive scuba diving trip. If you're going to spend as much money as a scuba diving trip for 1/2 hour, get wet! I guarantee you'll see more and be much more happy. The one thing that made this fun was the hostess but even she wouldn't be able to get us to go back.
Do the Jolly Pirate ship for snorkeling. It's less expensive and less deep as scuba diving, but just as beautiful and peaceful. Leave a Comment

Fun for a one time experience, but please don't waste your time. You saw everything you need to see at about the first 5 tables! Enjoy that and then move along!

Shopping can be tricky. The main shops are in the downtown area of Oranjestaad (the capital). Although you will find brand shopping it is more expensive than, say, duty free. I recommend buying local handcrafts and look for brand bargains... and never buy at first sight... you will probably find it cheaper one block down the street Leave a Comment

Shopping for anything in Aruba is my big thing. The only reason to buy anything in Aruba instead of home is to have the reminder of the fun you had. But there are no bargins Leave a Comment
