Take water shoes!

by mi-rider

We found water shoes to be a very nessasary part of enjoying the beaches at the Tamarijin (low rise) resort. There is abundant coral that washes up, if the waves are right, and it is very uncomfortable to walk on barefoot. Also there was other hazards in the water at the south end of the beach (LARGE pipes, a few bricks, and even a couple of old rusted out 55 Gal drums in the water). In general, the beaches were very nice once you got past these obstacles.

No danger here but a warning that you will probably be approached to attend a timeshare presentation. Timeshares are BIG! business in Aruba, and many from the northeast U.S. have purchased units. Pictured is the beautiful Costa Linda Beach Resort(next to Bucuti BR).

Don't drink too much if you go all inclusive!!!! On a serious note, Aruba is a very safe place, and I can't think of any real dangers. Obviously, you probably wouldn't want to be in some dark alley in Oranjestad after dark, but that's just common sense. If you stay in the touristy areas, you will feel perfectly safe!

If you are renting a car, be very careful driving. The winds blows sand on the roads, tires skid and a lot of accidents happen. Motocycle is especially more risky. You don't want to ruin your vacation!

Danger !! If you're going to try your luck at the Casino, my advice is... do it toward the end of your vacation or you'll be out $250.00 in under three hours on the first day.. and make sure your pretty hammered before you try the late night french fries with peanut butter.. Oh yeah, don't ring those nice brass bells at the bar unless you plan on buying drinks for the whole bar, Ooops !

There really aren't any great risks or dangers in Aruba, unless you count the Tunnel of Love. Be forewarned that they don't apply all the safety measures that we do here in the U.S. But it was still fun (we went there twice.) Crime is practically nonexistent, unless you decide to leave your purse laying on the seat of your convertible with the top down. In which case some other tourist might avail themselves of these new vacation funds.

Lock up your car!

by Frankie-Ontour

We were so relaxed on Aruba that we forgot to lock up our car at the Natural Bridge. Within 10 minutes we had an awful lot of stuff stolen. So please remember to lock your car!

No real danger here, however. Don't be surprised if you see any topless swimmers in the water. Also, lots of goats roam freely around the island.
