St. Lawrence Gap: Midnight Madness at the Gap

by bluewilldo

Since I spent most of my time in the Christchurch parish, I was pleased to discover this stretch of bars, restaurants, and clubs just a short drive away from my hotel. The locals commonly call it the Gap and it's a great place to meet new people. When I went Saturday night most of it was spent weaving through throngs of people and trying not to loose sight of my friends... on Tuesday night there was the perfect number of people. The music wasn't too loud to carry on a conversation and every-one around me was very friendly. We grabbed some drinks and headed down to the seaside where the music drifted lazily through the air and the sea sang along. It depends where you go. Most clubs are not terribly particular... so long as your wearing clothing. Restaurants are 'smart' casual. And bars couldn't care less.

Rum Punch

by 1Nomad

One of the favorite drinks on the island will be the Rum Punch. I am not much of a drinker. I know others who drink like gold fish. It's just one of the things you'll probably want to experience while your there. Also try the Bark's beer. It has a flavor much like the dark American or German beers. I recommend it. EXTREMELY CASUAL. I wouldn't really recommend wearing swimsuits to dinner though. There wasn't much of that.

Entertainment in Barbados...

by Bgem

Entertainment in Barbados starts in St.Lawrence Gap! A stroll through The Gap reveals a number of nightclubs, catering to all musical tastes. The nightlife in Barbados is very beautiful. I remember my friend who I spent my vacation with planning to go on the beach at midnight with her boyfriend for a midnight stroll. Even though I never experienced this, I did see some of Barbados at night especially the harbour and the beaches, not to mention taking a hot meal of Flying Fish and chips one night on a stroll in Bridgetown, St. Lawrence Gap.Don't miss The Whistling Frog's party nights - there is a street party, Karaoke and live bands to entertain you. Time Out at the Gap is where many Jazz entertainers choose to stay and to play and you will find some of the best names in Jazz playing right here.Reggae Lounge - this open-air nightclub offers the opportunity to dance the night away under...

There are many spots in...

by mocca

There are many spots in Barbados where you can party the night away to Soca beats. One of the best places are:The reggae lounge in st Lawrence Gap,The Ship Inn in st Lawrence Gapand the Harbour lights betweem stLawrence gand Bridge town. Most of the clubs have live music atleast 5 night a week, and there are good bands playing like 2nd Avenue, Spice & CO, Krosfyah, the Splashband and many many many more. Just check the papers to see which band is playing where. And the Harbour lights (wednesdays when I was there) and thge Reggae Lounge (on mondays) have a $10US cover charge, but then you can drink the rest of the night for free (not bad hey) Just keep the clothing light.

St Lawrence Gap (I loved Jambalayas for leathal cocktails then the Mexican bar next door then McBrides Irish Bar) then off to Harbour Lights, The Boatyard or The Ship.If you time it right you can go from one end of the gap to the other on 2-4-1 happy hours, recommended!!! Harbour lights is an open air nightclub and on Wednesdays and Fridays pay in and drink is free all night - yipee!!!! The Boatyard is the same on a Tuesday and the ship is good on a Thursday and Saturday with live bands. If '4 D people' is advertized go and see them. The music at Harbour lights is local to chart to dance to cheesy and the Boatyard is mostly local stuff. Harbour lights has a BBQ - mmmmmm. Whatever.

Harbour Lights and Ship Inn.: Harbour Lights and Ship Inn.

by Island_Babe

Harbour Lights is open air and on the beach.Best nights are Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. FREE DRINKS on Wednesday and Friday,Beach bar-b-que on Mondays and Sundays during peak periods.Variety of music offered.Very popular with 'Local Whites'.Fairly young crowd, ages range from 20's to 30's.Ship Inn is partially open air, with a pub and located in the always happening St.Lawrence Gap!( Which means you can sample what the Gap has to offer).Open seven days a week, and live Bands.Happy hour twice a night. You also get a portion of the door fee back in bar chits.Mixed crowd, lots of diversity.Thursday night is an open air event, with a live band playing on the lawn. For crop over, this is usually a Soca/Calypso band, and not to be missed! There are taxis available outside both venues so after a night of partying you can hire a taxi to take you back to the Hotel or Guest House, nice thing...

by Tara2001

On the whole, there is not much nightlife on Barbados. The best hang out is Harbour lights, an outdoor beach party not far from the capital Bridgetown. There are not a great amount of places to take the family at night so check before you go that your resort has on-site entertainment.

The Ship Inn on a Thursday night...

by mirah

The Ship Inn on a Thursday night with the cover band 4 D People. They made it sometimes even better than the orginal bands.Fun live music and good athmosphere. None what I could recall, but favorite dancing shoes recommended.

St. Lawrence Gap: St. Lawrence Gap

by cobaltlite

You can go club hopping along this road of exquisite Eateries and Dance clubs. Among Reggae and Calypso are other clubs with some pop American music. The Calypsos are breath-taking. Depends on the Clubs...but, normally it is casual...no swimsuits, though.
