Frankie's Canteen & Grill: Last or first stop in Barbados

by Kbgrace

A side of the road food stand with good eats. Literally right across from the airport. You could drop your bags off and walk across the street for lunch, which is just what we did. One of the few bargains in Barbados The chicken is good and the souse! Didn't even know what souse when I saw it advertised on a truck earlier that day. Its a tasty pickled pork dish.

Champers: Most romantic dinner we've every had

by Kbgrace

Beautifully prepared food in the most breathtaking location ever, on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Make a reservation for sunset! My husband and I both agree this was the most romantic dinner we've had over the course of our 7 years together, everything from the location, the service, the food contributed. Loved the tuna, lamb & coconut pie

Surfside: Good beachside food

by Vectorize

Surfside is one of Holetowns hotspots for having a beer overlooking the sea (perfect place to watch the sunset too). Surfside is pricey, even by Barbados standards, however the food is good and the atmosphere here is great.Try the Flying Fish Burger here that comes with chips. The blackened chicken ceaser salad is also good. You can have breakfast here: toast & eggs, omelette etc. They do a chicken or beef roti and grilled cheese sandwiches - all come with chips. The 'grilled cheese' sandwiches are more like toasties rather than the american version of 'grilled cheese'. The mozzarella and tomato grilled sandwich is very good. Surfside is not that great for veggies as there is little choice, although this is faily commonplace in Holetown, but veggie's will be able to find something on the menu. We didn't have dinner here but the menu looked fine although there were only a couple of pasta...

Pisces: Eating Fish at Pisces

by BigBlueOne

Awesome place that we happened across while walking around in the St. Lawrence area. We actually lucked upon it because from the street you can't really tell but almost every table in the restaurant is directly on the water (by directly on I mean two or three waves actually had drops splash within a few inches of my head, alas, none were a direct hit)!Ambience was out of this world and excellent scenery. Don't remember what I had but everything everyone tried was awesome. Its hard to not like the food when you're sitting on the water.

Cafe Sol: Mexican in the Gap...Ole!

by MaineIslandgal

A taste of Mexico for a change of pace in the Gap. A happening restaurant in the evenings. Margarita headquarters for Barbados as well as good Mexican cuisine. This place is hopping on most nights. Reservations not essential but if you see them busy earlier on in your trip it wouldn't hurt to give them a call. On our evening at Cafe Sol I had banana daiquiris and my boyfriend opted for Banks. We shared an appetizer of taquitos which were tortillas filled w/ cream cheese and jalapenos and then deep fried. We each had Venezuelan shrimp in our respected entrees. They were a bit small in size and the portions were smallish concerning the shrimp but very tasty.

The Restaurant at Southsea: Hottest restaurant spot in Barbados

by MaineIslandgal

A warm greeting from the valet sets the mood for a special evening spent at the Restaurant at Southsea. The hostess gave us the option of going directly to our table or sitting at the bar for a few moments since we were early. We opted for glasses of champagne at the well lit and trendy bar area. After champagne we were escorted to our oceanside table. Service is a bit overwhelming since there are at least 5 different people waiting on your table throughout the evening. It was a stark contrast to the mediocre service we had received at other Barbados restaurants. The overall ambience was good although the music selection stood out as odd (1980's easy listening pop). The surf does help drown out the music a bit. The Restaurant at Southsea is the hottest spot on the island as the buzz from being listed as one of the top 66 new restaurants "Hot Tables" by the reknowned Conde Nast...

Sand Dunes Restaurant: Yummy Flying Fish and Macaroni Pie!

by vabchtraveler

This little place is a roadside stop in the parish of St. Michael. The eating area is picnic tables under awnings. The food was fresh and plentiful. We had the fried flying fish and it was mild and delectible. It was served with potato salad, rice and beans, mixed salad, and macaroni pie. Bajan fare at a reasonable price.

Pisces: A must visit

by jpud99930

Pisces has been around since"1972". It's a landmark on the island. They have an international menu and with a subtle West Indian influence. Also many dishes with distinct caribbean flavour. The food I found to be excellent.Try to get a table along the seawall on your right as you enter. The view is great. Prices are average compared to otherws in the area.Just as most restaurants on the island, don't be in a hurry if you want to eat and run. They take their time. I love fish so I had the flying fish.A Barbadian favorite.
