The Cliff: Romantic cliff

by filboy

This is a special romantic restaurant atop a small cliff, overlooking the water. It's valet parking, and the restaurants feels more like a grand house with a great view of the sea. It has several levels but the best tables are along the rails. The food was excellent.... beautifully presented and great saucing. We had a starter, main, a medium priced wine and shared dessert. Our bill came out to about U.S.$175.00 person including tip. Pricey but considering the high cost of everything in Barbados worth it for those special occasions. The service was top notch but not intrusive. This is a very popular restaurant for the very rich and it's good to come early when the kitchen is not very busy. This is my experience with the best restaurants in Barbados. They tend to do great when not busy but quality falls down when it gets hectic.

Harlequin Restaurant: Fantastic food, service and atmopsphere!!!

by agentjanet

This restaurant has fantastic fresh seafood done on the grill, but everything on the menu is done so well and the prices are reasonable by Barbados standards! Lovely place in St. Lawrence Gap, outside atmosphere has great ambiance with lighting, colours and service to make you smile! You will not be disappointed - I have been numerous times and they are very consistent with quality of food, service and value for money! Grilled Snapper (local)

Waterfront Cafe: Scrumptious gateaux

by joanj

The cafe fronts the Careenage in Bridgetown, you can sit out by the boats, or inside. There is some live music at certain times (check local free Visitor paper for days etc)There is only a small area outside for eating, (see photo), but if you are lucky to get a table, it is nice to be outside. They serve up the most delicious deserts, but I have eaten a lunchtime hot snack here, and been well pleased.Tuesday night is Caribbean Buffet with steel pan music from 7.00 p.m. - 9.pm. $70.00 BDS..

The Coach House: Popular restaurant

by joanj

2010 update - this restaurant has definitely moved from the location stated here. It is still in Holetown on the west coast so please look in the guide books for the restaurant pages, or ask a local. December 2007 update. I have read the Nation Newspaper and have learned that the Coach House has now moved and taken over where Baku used to be in Holetown, St. James. As I am going in February, I may check this out and put more info on this page. This popular restaurant is on the west coast of the island in Paynes Bay, near to Holetown.Since this photograph was taken it has changed a great deal outside. Where the patio area is now, (and was where we danced the night away) has been revamped, and the outside seating area changed for the better. There is live music most nights, and an extensive bar menu. Check posters or the free guide book to determine which musical acts perform on which...

Happy Days: Best BLT around

by joanj

The little chattle house serves from 8am - 3pm. Closed on Sundays. It also has the internet provided for use. Lovely BLT on half a large bagette (warmed). Sit inside in the cool, or outside under umbrella's. If you order a BLT and there are two of you, ask for a basket of fries and share, there are plenty. There are little chattle shops in the courtyard area.

Cafe Sol: Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar

by joanj

The Cafe Sol is a sister eatery to Mc. Brides, ( a few doors down from one another).Although this was mid morning, the cafe sol was closed, but I still took a photograph just the same to show you what it looks like. At night, the few tables are outside with candles in small jars, and it is a bit noisy, people having a great time with food and Margaritas

Just Grillin: Reasonable priced food

by joanj

Grill Platters, sandwich platters, sides, grilled sandwiches and salads are all available, to eat there, or take away. Shrimp, New York Strip steak, catch of the day, BBQ chicken and Jerk Chicken are on the menu. Catch of the day sandwich with two sides (choice of grilled potatoes, grilled vegetables, caesar salad, colesslaw, rice.)

Oliver's Bar and Grill: Bright coloured restaurant

by joanj

We saw this eatery after we had had lunch so could not taste the food therein, but took a picture and picked up a menu for another time. The prices look reasonable i.e. Flying Fish Cutter (bun) accompanied with fries and garnish BDS$20.They also do a childrens menu (children under 12 get a free soft drink)

Shakers: Small and friendly

by joanj

This is a small family run business and can accommodate about 16 people inside and a dozen or so outside. It is licenced to sell liquor, and it is a friendly atmosphere, with value for money dishes on the menu. It is up a side street off Darylls road so I would recommend asking for directions. It is wise to Telephone a couple of days beforehand to book a table. I chose beer battered Dolphin (no not the one you think, it is like Mahi Mahi) and fries, although roast potatoes were on the menu also, accompanied with a salad garnish and coleslaw.

The Courtyard Restaurant, Sunbury Plantation House: Historical House

by Hewer

The Courtyard Restaurant is part of Sunbury Plantation House and is located well out in the countryside in St. Philip. If you are interested in visiting a plantation and experiencing some colonial era history, it's worth a trip. The restaurant is actually outdoors in a semi-covered courtyard and there is a bar attached to it also. A rustic ambience. This is more a place you go for the setting rather than the food (not that the food is bad!). It's a fairly eclectic mix but there are a couple of local specialties thrown in. Open from 9am to 5pm and later if you book a function.
