Bonito's, Bathsheba: Off the beaten track

by Rachael71

We visited Bonito's on our island tour - it's a little out of the way, but worth a trip if you are in this part of the island. At lunchtime, a Bajan buffet is on offer, which is a great way to sample a range of the island's specialities. A further attraction of the restaurant is the fabulous views across Bathsheba Bay, so be sure to remember your camera when you visit! The sweet potato pie was delicious, but the chef could not be persuaded to part with the recipe! We had a whole range of things, but I particularly enjoyed the sweet potato pie and the macaroni pie.

Fisherman's Pub, Speightstown: Good local cooking

by Rachael71

The Fisherman's Pub is located on the main street in Speightstown, right next to the pier that stretches out in to the Caribbean. It's popular with locals and tourists alike, and has a busy and bustling atmosphere. You queue for your food canteen-style, and take your pick from dishes including jerk chicken and flying fish. Once you've paid at the bar, grab a table by the sea and soak up the atmosphere. I had fried chicken and macaroni pie, good tasty food served fast, and a great atmosphere to complement it.

Oceans Seafood: Fresh, Local Seafood

by kucha

Oceans serves seafood from around the world with an imaginative "Bajan" touch.A wonderful, warm ambiance with a stunning view of the Bay. The specialty is seafood but they have a little something for everyone, including vegetarian dishes, pasta, steaks, poultry and lamb.I loved the fresh-caught grouper dishes -- served with spicy local seasonings.

Pisces: Dinner by the water

by mwenn2100

We were walking around the Gap on a Friday night and spotted this restaurant overlooking the water. We weren't sure if we were dressed appropriately or if we needed a reservation, but we thought we'd give it a shot. I'm quite glad that we did. We were seated immediately at the railing overlooking the ocean. The sun had just set and it was a lovely view/atmosphere. The restaurant has an indoor lounge/bar area and a few indoor tables, but the majority of them are along the railing to allow all the customers to enjoy the view. The staff was curteous and kind, although a bit slow. Most of the tables are smaller, but there were a few larger ones for bigger parties. The railing is lined with lamps and there were fans on the ceiling to keep the customers comfortable during the hotter months. The food was good... not superb, but a good dinner just the same. The had various salads, seafood...

The Lighthouse Terrace: Open Air Food Enjoyment!

by mwenn2100

This is the main restaurant of the Hilton property and offers daily breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets along with an ala carte menu. The dinner buffet is a theme buffet which changes every night. The restaurant offers an indoor dining room, an outdoor interior dining area and an outside dining area (this area is covered but is along the railing overlooking the ocean). While I found the food to be expensive, the view was so beautiful.I unfortunately didn't get to sample the themed dinner buffet, but the breakfast buffet was outstanding. There were so many choices to be had. There was a cook preparing made to order meats and omelettes as well as a fruit buffet, pastry buffet, hot food table, and cold food table. The ala carte menu was somewhat sparse and I was suprised that all of the food was pretty much American standard food with slight Caribbean twists. There was no standout menu item...

Ragamufins: Authentic West Indian Cuisine

by TexasDave

Very casual, authentic Bajan restaurant. It's small, so reservations are recommended.I didn't verify this when we were there, but I think they are open only for dinner most days, with the possible exception of weedends. Any kind of seafood, the specials board changes daily.

Southern Palms: Sunday Lunch Buffet - with Steel Pan

by joanj

The Sunday Lunch Buffet at Southern Palms Beach Club is a must:There is a sumptuous array of food, the dining area is open to the cool breezes, and the steel pan play during the lunch time. If you feel so inclined, you are welcome to dance on the concrete in front of the players,I cannot supply you with prices, as of course they increase year by year, and we never went last year to eat. Everything on the buffet, the desserts are mouthwatering.Do watch out for the birds landing on your table for food,( do not leave your food unatended if you wish to return to it, )Booking is essential, for this popular Sunday Lunchtime feast

The Cliff: Lobster wow

by claire1011

The menu had lots to choose from all meats to any kind of fish. The tables were situated all along the edge of a cliff hence the restaurant name and the atmosphere excellent.A very special place to go for dinner, though wouldnt go for your entire stay a two course and a nice bottle of wine amounted to ?100. So worth it for a one off. My favourite dish had to be the lobster and a very sweet apricot rice pudding with all the trimmings for afters!!!!!!

country style

by stiab3

The 'Shoe,' as it is affectionately known, is a steak house, bar and gaming saloon that is open 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. It features food and drink around the clock, music videos, cable TV and gaming machines. The restaurant is famous for its steaks, including an enormous 24-ounce rib eye. Among the lunch choices is a salad bar and the Trail Blazin Barbecue of fish, chicken or steak. There is a distinctive old-fashioned bar room feel to the place. Those who prefer a slower pace can relax on the outside porch decorated with country-and-western accessories. I recommend the Bajan fishcakes. But watch out for the pieces of scotch bonnet pepper. I bit into a piece and that put paid to my appetite!

Lord Willoughby's Tavern: Pub Grub

by stiab3

This 24-hour pub and grub spot is quite popular with the younger folks. Its casual and laid-back feel attracts both locals and tourists alike. With affordable favorites listed on its menu, this Bajan night crawl promises to deliver excitement with not only its funky food flair, but with its eccentric staff, as well. Come in for drinks in the late evening, or stumble in for breakfast at the break of dawn. This is a bajan take on traditional english pub food. I ate there 3 times (lunch, dinner and whatever you want to call it at 4am) and was quite impressed with the food. The portions were quite large. The only disappointment was the yorkshire pudding for my roast dinner. It was compensated for my a hefty serving of roastbeef though. The fish and chips were good. I'd also recommend the roast dinner if you don't mind the yorkshire pudding being strange.Onion rings - I ordered some of these...
