Since I'm a professional photographer, I carried my best equipment to Barbados.
I felt safe keeping it in the room, and didn't really feel a need to keep it in the hotel safe.
However, someone warned me, "Bajans are very honest people, but don't tempt them by keeping your equipment out. Hide it in the room, and lock the door when you're asleep, out, or in the shower."
Just take normal precautions, and your property should be fine.

Well, if you have read the intro, you can guess what the dangers here are: rips, heavy waves and reef. Don't take this wave lightly, especially with no or offshore wind when it will throw it's power
