    Broad Street: Duty Free

by Gillybob Updated Feb 15, 2009

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Broad Street is Bridgetown is dotted along its length with duty free shops. You name your duty free of choice and this is the place to come and purchase it : jewellery, alcohol, tobacco products, perfume, etc.

Shops are generally open Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm. Shops are generally closed on Sunday.

What to buy: Its worth noting that many of the products are available cheaper elsewhere. Barbadian rum is best purchased from one of the supermarkets to get the best price.

What to pay: Standard duty free prices.

    Hand-made leather shoes and sandles

by Hewer Written Jun 3, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are numerous stalls around Bridgetown where you can buy handmade leather footwear. They will cut, shape and tan the leather for you right there. There are also ready-to-wear shoes. They are guaranteed to last a lifetime by the makers (I guess we'll have to see about that ;-). It's worthwhile shopping around because there are a lot of guys doing the same thing.

What to pay: You can pay between BB$50 and BB$80, depending on what you want and the size of your foot.

When can I have a rum?

    Swan Street: Pedestrian Mall

by Hewer Written Jun 4, 2005

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is a busy shopping street in the centre of Bridgetown. There's nothing particularly touristy about it, just clothes shops, a variety store and other things you would find in a mall of this kind anywhere else. I guess the main attraction is just watching the Bajans go about their business.

    Duty Free Shopping

by HispanicYob Updated Dec 4, 2007

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This seems to be typical of the Caribbean, in that I mean duty-free shopping. There's the typical touristy stuff that it sold here. You can find lots of duty free shopping next to the cruise ship dock. There's a post office located here as well as well as a mailbox.

    Mainly jewelry, I guess

The streets of Bridgetown are crowded with lots of stores and shoppers. Many of those stores sell jewelry, fine gold, watches, etc. I wasn't in the market for this sort of stuff so they were pretty much of no interest to me.
