The first thing we did after we got the car was go to the Barbados Museum. It took us a little bit of time to find it.
The Barbados Museum is housed in an original 19th century British Military prison at St. Ann's Garrison. There is a small place to eat there but we waited and went to Brown Sugar later.
The first area is about the ecology of the coral reefs and mangrove swamps. Then there is an exhibition on the early inhabitants of Barbados is housed in the permanent exhibition "In Search of Bim." The Challenor Gallery has a wide variety of military objects and artefacts. The exhibit in the former prison areas include uniforms, medals, photography and other memorabilia from the early 17th century to World War II. There are also guns etc in the courtyard
The best exhibit is called "Yesterdays Children" and shows how children would have dressed, their chores and other family life areas.
The second picture is a xerox copy of one that I took and can't presently find.
