Bathsheba by grets On the Atlantic Coast you can find the small village of Bathsheba. At the time we were there, there was a small shop and a little café, which served dolphin sandwiches! Leave a Comment

by Ariannrhod One of the main attractions of Barbados-Harrison's cave is over 500 000 years old- Offering a history and a tour this ''excursion'' is worth the trip. You really feel the old cave in your bones once you enter in this little train that takes you inside-it's beautiful and majestic. Sunset seen from west coast by AcornMan Overall my wife and I definitely enjoyed our trip to Barbados and I'd happily go back. The scenery is very nice, and the beaches were relaxing and peaceful. Just do some research to make sure you're staying in a quiet and uncrowded area of the island and you should enjoy yourself too. Leave a Comment

by scbelle So... you're reading the tour books on Barbados that you picked up from your local library, reading the list of things to do, and you read, over and over again "and don't miss the famed Crane Beach, renowned as one of the world's most beautiful beaches..." You're eyes glaze over; you've heard it all before. Well, perhaps you have heard it before. And perhaps most tour book writers just paraphrase the hyperbolic verbiage from a location's tourism bureau BUT, in the case of Crane Beach, this IS NOT HYPERBOLE. This was definitely the most beautiful, dramatic beach I have been to.... It will knock your socks off. My pictures aren't so grand, as I couldn't really figure out the damn digital camera, and I took them late in the day (hello, we stayed ALL DAY LONG) and the sun had already fell behind the tree line. This is an east coast beach, so the water is the Atlantic, not the Caribbean, and the sun sets over land, not water. I MUCH preferred the ocean here--I like a little wave as opposed to tepid bath water, coming from the East Coast of the US. It was ok for proficient swimmers... If I had a five year old, I wouldn't let the kid go in by himself, but I wouldn't have qualms about a ten year old. It is wise, for those who didn't grow up around the ocean to remember the mantra "Never turn your back on the ocean." I'm not saying you're gonna drown, but if a wave knocks you over, prepare to get sand in your swimmies and salt water in your sinuses. Actually, after the intial shock, salt water in your sinuses might not be such a bad thing. FYI: You may access Crane Beach via the Crane Hotel if you are not a guest, so long as you either pay an entrance fee or buy dinner. You cannot use their beach service gratis, but you can, however, rent comfy chairs and umbrellas from a vendor, and buy beer too! Anyway, see my post on the Crane Hotel for more info and another picture. Leave a Comment
