Turtle Feeding

by 1Nomad

While your in Barbados, don't forget to take the Catamaran sailing trip. This is a 5 hour ride which makes two stops for snorkeling. Drinks are included along with the fantastic lunch. On the second stop for snorkeling, there will be plenty of opportunities to see a ship wreck, turtles and tons of fish. While your snorkeling, the boat's captain will throw out food for the fish. Day will turn into night as the surround you. You can bring food into the water for the turtles, but be careful! You can feed them and get your fingers in the wrong place. Ouch! One of the passengers aboard our boat had been biten. Although he did not require stitches, the salt water left an impression. This particular boat also has available sunset cruises and Combination cruises with waterfront cafe's. The sunset cruise lasts for 3 hours (4pm-7pm) and the combination cruise has a variety of sailings from 4pm to...

Golfing

by 1Nomad

Do you like to play golf? I am the weekend guy who plays maybe 1 or 2 times a year. I have managed to get my score down below 100 (for 9 holes). Insurance for the greens is optional in my opinion. However, as we drove by this particular course, it looked like a place a lot of professionals would like to play. It's called BARBADOS GOLF CLUB. It looks pretty new. The grass was plenty green and the trees are coming along nicely. Its located up in the hills and should provide plenty of challenges. I will also say that this for me was a little expensive. Green Fee prices during the high season run $119 and$79 US low season. Carts are $13 US. If you need club's, they have rentals for $20.00 (Cobras). Shoe rental is also available for $7.50. If golf is your thing, then passes are $270.00 (high) and $189 (low season) for 3 days. 7 day passes are $588 and $385. If your like me and need tuition,...

Harrison's Cave

by 1Nomad

Harrison's Cave ... here's an opportunity to see another natural cave formation. In my opinion, once you have seen one, you have seen them all. We have been to Carlsbad in New Mexico, select caves in the San Antonio area of Texas and caves located in Virginia. They are big holes in the ground with weird things hanging everywhere. If your into this kind of thing, it's probably a good place to stop. We were on the way there and again, it began to rain. It was close to the end of the day, so we opted out of this one.

Harrison's Cave

Harrison's Cave is probably the most popular attraction... Known as one of the Seven Wonders of Barbados. While descending down into it, the heavy, humid air above melds into the cool, full air below. Cameras poised you ride around the stalagmites in a cart with stalagtites dangling over head. Snap a picture as steam shoots up from a crack off to the right, or while water cascades down from a ledge on your left. A cave in the Caribbean is almost unheard of, but one so extensive and magnificent is altogether unique.

There's so much to discover...

by Bgem

There's so much to discover about this island - from the historic homes and buildings that tell the story of its past, to the underground wonder of its natural caves. You will see natural beauty in the tropical flowers that bloom around you and the breathtaking landscapes and seascapes that abound.Best thing to do is buy a tourist guide when you get there! The exquisite coral flowers are in fact congregations of tiny animals, called polyps a few millimeters in size. Coral polyps eat plankton, an organism even smaller than themselves. Tiny stinging tentacles reach out from the coral's soft inner body, to paralyze the plankton, which they grab and eat. The calcium formations that we see as corals are the outer bodies of thousands of these minute animals huddled together to form intricate patterns and shapes. There are in fact two types of coral, some have a hard shell like skeleton while...

Harrison's Cave

by steph4867

The underground world here, the number-one tourist attraction of Barbados, is viewed from aboard an electric tram and trailer. On the tour, you'll see bubbling streams, tumbling cascades, and subtly lit deep pools, while all around stalactites hang overhead like icicles, and stalagmites rise from the floor. Visitors may disembark and get a closer look at this natural phenomenon at the Rotunda Room and the Cascade Pool. Although it's interesting, it may not impress Americans who have been to the far more spectacular Carlsbad or Luray Caverns.

Swim, scuba dive, snorkle,...

Swim, scuba dive, snorkle, parachute, etc, on one of those beautiful beaches like the Crane Beach (south) shown as the title photo. These beautiful beaches are along the south and west side of the island. The white house, the Crane Beach hotel, is the first resort in Barbados. If offers spectacular view of the Crane Beach and the beautiful countryside. Some suites has its own courtyards. Its restaurant is high above the beach, looks like a ship from afar.Understandably, many big resorts are built along those beaches. But please, do not just get stuck in those all-inclusive resorts, the 'world' outside is much more beautiful! That all-inclusive band on your wrest does not offer you more luxury but rather constraint your freedom to see the real world.

Barbados has a number of sites of historical, architectural and natural interest and it is these that make Barbados special and unique! Most people know of the Seven Wonders of the World..... here is your chance to discover the 'Seven Wonders of Barbados'! Explore The Seven Wonders of Barbados:'Harrison's Cave' 'The Baobab Tree' 'Historic Jacobean Mansions' 'Morgan Lewis Mill' 'Famous Jewish Synagogue' 'Cannon Galore' 'Grapefruit Tree' (Citrus Paradise) One of the Barbaos Tourism Encyclopedia's 'Seven Wonders of Barbados' is this spectacular cave which is one of our island's most famous attractions. History of Harrison's CaveAlthough historical references were made to Harrison's Cave from as early as the eighteenth century, no serious exploration of the cave was done until 1970, when speleologist, Ole Sorensen, was commissioned by the Barbados National Trust to make a survey and map the...
