The girls decided they should take mom on a tour to see some birds. They found a nice guy that would take us to a local bird island. It was a four hour tour starting at 7am.
After a short boat ride, he anchored off shore, and we walked around the island.
We saw herons, cormorants, brown pelicans, and frigate birds.

The crocs just float there and the kids just doink them on the head with chicken parts on a string until they snap at it.After they have gotten most of a chicken down they just kinda hang out floating on the bank. For a few bucks the teenagers will hold your hand and help you pet him.For twenty bucks, they'll tell you, they' will kiss the croc for the cameras. The teenagers selling the necklaces were nice enough but persistant.Eventualy they'll take no for an answer and leave you alone.

First you need a chicken,Then someone starts throwing the chicken out about 20 feet and letting it smack onto the water to attract the crocs. The kids know how to tease these guys up on the beach with some chicken from the supermarket. The crocs are pretty mellow but it's still kinda freaky. Most of the time they are just floating there with the kids doinking chicken pats on their snouts.I got a few pictures of crocs with their mouths open.

    The Split

Take a day trip by water taxi over to neighbouring island Caye Caulker and explore Front St.,Back St.,and Middle St. all over again. Instead of the "Cut" you'll see the "Split" as shown in the picture. Have a great lunch at Rasta Pasta. If the pace of life in Ambergris Caye is "slow forward",then here it's "reverse".

Is it a road or a river?

We rented a bike and rode along the shore to the north. It had rained the night before and that morning so this is what the road looked like.
