(Note: this is NOT the 'Stonegrill Restaurant' as indicated above - I can't get rid of this 'VT' insert even by editing this tip) After our harrowing and hot midday walk in downtown Belize City, as we made our first explorations (see my 'Warnings & Dangers' tip), we were very relieved when our taxi delivered us to the posh Radisson hotel, located on the harbourfront beside historic Fort George. We were both very hot after our walk in the tropical sun, so the cool, air-conditioned atmosphere of the restaurant immediately brought us back to life! It was also very nice to actually find a restaurant open on this practically 'dead' Sunday afternoon! The dining room was bright and spacious, with a great view out onto the Belize City harbourfront (second photo), and relaxing live music was being played by a one-man band.

Favorite Dish: On entering the dining room, we first examined a great-looking buffet lunch going for US$19 pp. However, we were not feeling particularly famished, so decided to order a couple of different smaller dishes and share them. Their Club Sandwich with Ham Chicken, Bacon, Cheese and Lettuce on 3-layers of toasted bread with Fries (US$8.75) and a plate of Pork Satay skewers marinated with spices and BBQ-grilled (US$9.50) really did the trick for us! Of course, after being starved for wine in the far reaches of Belize, Sue thoroughly enjoyed her chilled glass of Chardonnay while I controlled my overheated body with two iced mugs of draft Belikin beer! With a tip, the total meal price of US$39 was well worth it.

This restaurant also features a well-regarded Seafood Buffet each Sunday evening, also for US$19. Steve, our new-found English friend staying at the Seaside Guest House, tried it that evening and said it was one of the best meals he had enjoyed in quite some time.

Stonegrill Restaurant at Radisson Hotel: Dine outdoors by the pool

Poolside bar and Stonegrill Restaurant

At the Radisson Hotel by the pool, people can eat or drink cocktails at the tables or at the bar. Open for dinner and drinks until 10 pm nightly.

Favorite Dish: I got beef fajitas. The food you order will be brought out on a little grill and you cook it yourself. It tastes good and they give you some salsa, sour cream, lettuce, onions, and bell peppers.
