The Wet Lizard: Great View of Belize Harbor
When you're walking along the "boardwalk" at the waterfront near the Tourism Village, you'll definitely pass "The Wet Lizard." This nice little place located on the second story of a shop offers drinks, snacks and light meals. People sitting on the covered balcony section overlooking the boardwalk & bay will wave at you & offer to buy a drink, but in our case, WE ended up buying the drinks and didn't stay long enough for the favor to be returned!! :( The mood at the Wet Lizard is very festive and friendly and the service is too but expect it to be very busy!
If you prefer getting further away from the sun and all the tourists below, steer away from sitting next to the balcony rails and near the inside bar where it is somewhat quieter but no less humid even with ceiling fans twirling!! Friendly table service is provided. You can purchase souvenirs of The Wet Lizard at the bar.
Favorite Dish: Anything cold to drink and tortilla chips with salsa!
The Wet Lizard: Great hangout
Our cruise line recommended The Wet Lizard so we trudged up the stairs to order a couple of Belikins and ask for info. We got both from Lauren, the cordial bartender. Later we visited the Liz gift shop at the bottom of the back stairs and picked up cook books and tee shirts for people on our Christmas list.
Favorite Dish: After taking a tour around the outskirts of Belize City, we returned to The Wet Lizard for a couple of hamburgers and more Belikin beer. Turns out Belikin makes a stout. Good. The burgers were great.

The Wet Lizard: AWESOME Ceviche!
We saw this place and figured it would be the same old tourist type restaurant but were we surprised. Heaping helpings and lobster ceviche! We had two bowls of the ceviche for $10.00 US. Wash it down with a Lighthouse Lager and you have an entire meal here. Of course we ordered too much and left a lot on the table but overall we were very pleasantly surprised by the quality and price.
The only drawback is the lacakadasical service but this is true all over the Carribean area so we did not get twisted up about it. you just get used to it.
Favorite Dish: LOBSTER CEVICHE!
The Wet Lizard: Great food on the Water
The Wet Lizard is a lively little place with a nice balcony overlooking the harbor. The food is great and less epensive than some of the other options in the Fort George area.
It is Brightly decorated and the night we were there there was karioke going on. You can view this as a positive or a negative but the atmosphere was fun.
Favorite Dish: I recomend the tacos. Funny enough the cheepest thing on the menu but still more than enough food.
They also have local options on the menu including more traditional garifuna dishes.
