Favorite thing: The streets are sand and there were almost no internal combustion automobiles on the island. There were said to be a beer truck, and maybe two other cars. All transportation was by foot, bike or golf cart. I soon found though that if I went barefoot I wore all the skin off my feet.
Fondest memory: Walking along the shore (wearing shoes) into town to get a meal or go diving or snorkeling, and then walking back in the evening along the path.

Favorite thing: Definitely, my favourite thing about Caye Caulker was the lack of vehicular traffic on its sandy roads. Most people travel on their own two bare feet, some use bicycles and some use golfcarts.
This really adds to the laid back atomosphere on the island. Nobody is in a hurry, so pedestrians and children and pets and even iguanas can all use the street safely and noone has to breathe those annoying fumes from the car exhausts.
