There are vendors in Altun Ha ruins who just go there temporarily to sell something. I saw this vendor selling bottled water and some fruits that looked like they came from his own farm: oranges, guyabano and coconuts.He sells the fresh coconuts for the juice as it is very hot and humid in Belize.
Most of the items sold in Altun Ha are very expensive and even the food there. The vendors there are mostly middle men and the expense of hauling their products all the way to Altun Ha are probably added to the price of their products. Know that there are other stores in Belize where you can buy arts and crafts cheaper. However, you can support these vendors, too, if you like.There is only store here that sells food and the can of soda is super expensive!
If you rented a car going to the Altun Ha, you will probably miss your turn or got lost. The road signs here are not clear and the signage are not fixed. There are many hurricanes in Belize and most of their infrastructures were destroyed at some point including the signage on the roads. The signage to Altun Ha is not clear. If you have driven here yourself on a rented car, you probably have missed your turn. Make sure to ask directions. Maps are not usually updated.
