Belize is famous for their wood carvings. I forget the type of wood that they use, but you will find many people selling various carvings; such as bowls, utensils, masks, and sculptures. If you happen to go to Boomba Village, you may get lucky and see how it is all done. And it's all done by hand.
While Boomba Village we were able to capture this skill in the making. A young Garfuna was in the process of making a bowl from a tree. He said that it would take him 2-3 weeks to finish.

This is Mermaid was sculpted from the same tree as above (I think). Everyday, while going to breakfast, I passed by her. The picture doesn't do her justice.
