The muddy roads

by ymike2000

With one or two exceptions, the roads in Belize are very bumpy. Some of the roads in Mountain Pine Ridge are particularly rough. Prepare to spend a lot of time in your vehicle getting from one place to the other. Also be ready to abandon plans to visit attractions if the roads have been flooded by rainstorms. The road to Thousand Foot Falls was an extremely slow, unpleasant ride because it had rained 2 nights earlier. When we arrived, there was just one platform for viewing the falls and although they are beautiful and so is the surrounding valley, it was difficult not to wonder if the end justified the means. Also watch out for logging trucks.

Arachnophobia?

by ymike2000

This little fellow startled us as we explored St. Herman's Cave. Tarantulas don't really produce enough venom to kill a human. However, a bite would hardly be pleasant.
