Favorite thing: I didn't mean to insult the ....uh sport....of parasailing so here is the upshot. I do like to soar. Soar you do when parasailing. It just seems so anticlimatic to not do anything. Don't they have monkey bars or a trapeze for those with a short attention span?? Go DIVING! I wish I had pictures. When I was there in 2000 there was a guy from Miami with a cigarette boat [read fast and detrimental to the reef]. He said he was bringing 3 more into the area. Go diving before the reefs are damaged and if you can, support efforts to ban the onslaught of the boats. The diving is amazing and no I didn't get to the blue hole. Next time, with my long list of other things to do and see. I love these waters!!!

Fondest memory: Big balls of sea life-literally. Nurse sharks, sting rays, and colorful sea life abound in these waters. Even if you don't dive, you can snorkel or just swim to your hearts delight.

Favorite thing: It is clear (no pun intended) why this is one of the top ten diving locations in the world!!

Fondest memory: The coastline is protected by the 190 miles long Barrier Reef, the second largest living coral reef in the world. The reef is only a quarter mile from the beach of Ambergris Caye making diving easily accessible – including the Great Blue Hole site! This inland sea provides a great look at the vibrant coral gardens, sponges, plunging walls, schooling fish, sea turtles, manta rays, eagle rays, nurse sharks, and many other beautiful and colorful fish --surrounded by schools of glimmering fish, graceful rays, man sized nurse sharks and playful dolphins. The shallow water, the light sandy color of the bottom, and the reduced wave action due to the reef protection make for incredible visibility underwater.
The Great Blue Hole, Turneffe Islands, Shark Ray Alley, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Mexico Rocks, Lighthouse Reef, and many other diving areas are all only a short boat ride away.

Get in the water!

Favorite thing: The water is so warm, you could stay in it all day long. Belize has the second largest barrier reef, making the snorkeling and must! There are many different companies, we went out for a full day for 35 usd, and it was worth it. You can get cheaper trips on sailboats, but you spend more time on the boat then in the water.

Fondest memory: Going for a swim, eating, smoking, talking with the locals, drinking, lying in the hammock.

Favorite thing: snorkel/dive on the reef, and visit at least one Mayan ruin.

Fondest memory: when we were sitting at dinner every night laughing at what we managed to get ourselves into each day. I don't think we will ever forget the horseback riding day trip we took. I ride, my friends don't. Also, sticking our fingers through the cage to pet Tika the jaguar behind the ears. Everone asked us at dinner each night if we had our fingers because she wasn't tame. She liked getting her head scratched, and we kept all of our fingers.

Favorite thing: Dive, Dive ,Dive. Belize (Ambergris Caye) has some of the best diving in the world, with the second largest corral reef in the world. I'm pretty much an amateur, but i was blown away. Also, go on a tour of the Myan Ruins, you wont be disapointed.

Fondest memory: I loved the beaches there. I miss the snorkling and windsurfing and the relaxing.

Favorite thing: When visiting Belize, you simply must go scuba diving. The second largest coral reef on the planet lives right off of the coast of the Cayes.

Fondest memory: What I miss the most is not wearing shoes at all - not to dinner, to the grocery store, or the post office.

Favorite thing: If you dive or snorkel you must take a trip to Hol Chan, Belize's National Marine Park, where you can scuba dive and snorkel amid grouper and various types of tropical fish, inclduing sharks and sting rays, in the second largest barrier reef on earth.

Fondest memory: The island of Cayo Espanto is the perfect place to go to just relax and get a way from it all. Every magnificent cabana is decorated with sea front freshwater pools, hammocks with 360 degree views of the Caribbean and personal staff to cater to your every need.

Favorite thing: Visit Shark and Ray Alley through the reef off Ambergris Caye, Scuba outside the reef.

Fondest memory: Thatched roofs at Ramon's village, catching a ride on an eight foot shark, watching my daughter feed the rays.
