It was not even a half-hour after we had checked into our Whistling Seas accommodations that Norm and I realized we had fallen into the lap of luxury. Located next door, was the Dong Lee Supermarket, a place that we could tell had learned their lessons well. Never mind having the Belikin beers in their refrigerated section, they simply kept them in their large chest freezer instead! Apparently, demand was so great that the beers were snapped up before they had a chance to completely freeze. Even though we had refrigerators in our cabanas, it was always nice to know that cold 'emergency' beers were readily available. Oh yes, I do believe that they also had some other goods for sale.
This was a small shop on the ocean just up the beach from Jaguar Reef. The owner and his wife were very friendly and they had some amazing work for sale. Gearge (the owner) made us a small wooden gecko in a couple days and each day we would stop by and see how it progressed. He is a very good craftsman and the prices are very low for the effort put into the artwork.
What to buy: We really enjoyed the coconut husks that were handpainted and cut to look like the fish on the reef and the custom carved wood pieces were amazing.
