Walk in the Jungles Where the Jaguars Roam
The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary "Jaguar Reserve" is very difficult to reach but is well worth it. This reserve has nearly 100,000 acres of lush and dense rainforest. There are many species of floral and fauna here native to Belize including several species of large mamals like pumas, ocelots, tapirs, agoutis, anteaters, aermadillos, brocket deer, coatis, otters, and of course jaguars. It is very difficult to see all of these things of course but the well kept trails provide many opportunites to enjoy the bird life and the occasional reptile (there are many species of viper but there is little worry of coming in contact on these well kept trails). There is even a small plane being overtaken by the jungle that crashed several years ago you can check out.The down side of all of this is the fact that this reserve is 10 km off the main road.
