Tobacco key isn't the beat all place to do either activity. Although I'm not trying to discourage you in any way. You can walk in the the water from the edges of the island and see wonderful fish and the corals are coming back. I mean that the was a hurricane a couple of years ago that changed the island a bit by filling in a really nice lagoon where a mangrove tree has since taken root and ripped up loads of smaller corals from the shallows.
You can also hire a boat to take you to other islands near by that have a different array of plants and animals. There are dive masters on the island who can take you to the outer reef for a good look. The prices tend to change by the minute so pay in advance and make sure you get what you pay for. Time out there for money spent. I witnessed an argument over this. I was offered a boat for ten US one afternoon that I didn't feel comfortable with (the deal not the boat). The next day the price was offered at twenty US PP. Some travelers took it and when they were finished the price rose to twenty five.

I know this is somewhat of a joke but this is a small island. Before taking the skiff from Dangriga make sure you buy some rum (One Barrel is the Belizian brand) and some mixers or you can beer with you but there isn't much refrigeration on the island because of generators and solar power. It could be better but hey this is Belize and part of the experience. You can buy beer cold at a couple of places on the island. You can find them easy enough and it's not that expensive.

Dress Code: All but naked. And well you never know?
