Punta Gorda Things to Do

  • by ruthalice Written Nov 17, 2013

Warasa offers drumming, drum-making, dancing lessons or you can do a combination...their prices are very reasonable, and the surroundings (under a lovely thatch palapa) are beautiful. Ray, the teacher, is very patient and friendly, and makes the experience lots of fun - it's amazing how much you can learn in a short time. It's a warm family-owned business - Ray and his dad make the drums and maracas, Ray's wife Ruth paints them, and if you are lucky enough or pay for the privalege you can see their whole family perform together. A really great experience!

Wednesday and Saturdays are the better days to come into PG for market days. That is when people come from the outer villages to sell some great fresh food.

Sea side market fresh food for sale I think this is Cho Cho

This is a great little place that deserves to be more known! Gomier makes his own soy milk, tofu, and soy sausages. This is awesome food! His soy ice cream is to die for and so are his nutritious shakes! Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, large groups please give him a head's up... He also offers vegan and vegetarian cooking classes by appointment and simple home-stays. He is a massage therapist and has a great knowledge of natural healing.

His food is vegan and vegetarian, but he does offer some fish.

Nice, homey, and relaxed atmosphere. Not a big place, but it might just become bigger with this!! :))
If you like to see photos from his menu and some dishes, please get in touch with me.
Punta Gorda where his restaurant is located is a great destination for eco-tours, and Gomier knows some neat waterfalls and organic farms to visit. Black & Green gets its organic cocoa from here!

Favorite Dish: My favourite dish is the curried tofu! Wonderful tasting tofu in an absolutely delightful sauce with a whole grain/rice mixture with great flavour and salad with homemade dressing.
I have a photo if you like to see... ;)))

And his great vegan cookies and the homemade fabulous soy ice cream!

Well, and there is also his vegetarian lasagne... and different kinds of veggie burgers, his homemade whole wheat bread, and, and, and...

I have also a photo from his menu... :)))

Gomier needs help to get his place known... so any ideas are appreciated. He is a great guy!

Gomier's Menu Restaurant Impressions more of Gomier's Menu Curried Tofu! Yummy!!! Vegetarian Lasagne! Great!!!

Punta Gorda Local Customs

  • by markosoft Written Sep 4, 2009

Was traveling through Punta Gorda. I'm out of state. Got caught in the wrong lane and had to move ove so I step on the gas. Sure I was speeding but I got stop by officer Gari or Prez badge 410 not sure of his name his writing is so bad that I doubt he could even spell anyway. Be carefull in Punta Gorda for this guy is a jerk. I was nice to him and he wrote me 3 tickets speeding and 2 other crazy charges for failing to signal in a pass which i did signal and not turning in a turn lane. We are all human but i guess this ahole is perfect becaue obvious he does nto make any mistakes said I was driving reckless yet he drove even more reckless than I did getting into traffic and tailgating me over a bridge. Talking about a pot calling the kettle black. Watch out for Punta Gorda because thye are out to slam all travelers from out of state.
