Limin Times: CHECK OUT WHAT'S GOING ON

by sabsi

You want to know where there's live music while you are on the BVI? You are craving for a barbecue? Want to catch some regatta sailing? You can find out in the Limin Times, a biweekly magazine about upcoming events. The small magazine is available from bars, restaurants, shops, rental car agencies and hotels for free.

Everywhere: TIME FOR A QUIET NIGHT

by sabsi

You will realise that the BVI will make you very relaxed in a very short time. Especially for us, with a time difference of 5 hours compared to home, it was hard to stay awake for long in the evenings, at least in the first days. We went somewhere for dinner, sat on our verandah for half an hour and went straight to bed. We didn't care that it was not even 10 pm and blame it on the quietness, the jetlag, the heat and the darkness! After a while it got better and in the end we went out until nearly midnight (and still got up before 7 am as usual!). Make sure to check out these nice natural evening entertainment options:Look up into the sky. I never knew that so many stars even existed!Get up early and see a sunrise. For me they were much more spectacular than the sunsets. Walk along a beach at night and enjoy the sound of waves and the lights in the distance.Listen to the sound of nature:...

Bomba's Surfside Shack: FULL MOON PARTIES

by sabsi

On one night every month more people that you would think live on the BVI gather at Apple Bay to celebrate Bomba's Full Moon Party. This night means sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. As we are too old for stuff like this and as we were too tired to wait for the start of the party which is usually quite late, we didn't go (even though we lived only 10 mts away from Bomba's). Maybe you will, next time? If you do, please don't tell me what we missed!Bomba's is not only open on full moon though. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday nights there's live music here. Here's a link to the full moon dates. If you come naked the people here will love it!

Quito's Gazebo: SONGS AND DRINKS IN CANE GARDEN BAY

by sabsi

If you're on Tortola and you feel like live music you should head to Cane Garden Bay! In Quito's Gazebo, a bar and restaurant owned by BVI recording star Quito Rymer, you get many chances to see Quito playing live. On Tuesday and Thursday night it will be just him and his guitar singing unplugged love songs. On Fridays and Saturdays he performs with his band "The Edge" and there will be dancing. We came on a quiet Tuesday night and even though only a few other people were here Quito sang his songs. I enjoyed them so much, I had to buy and album as a souvenir. Ooooooh Tortola!

Which beer to drink?: A QUESTION OF RELIGION

by sabsi

There are two popular beers on the islands, both imported of course. One is "Red Stripe" from Jamaica, the other one is "Carib" from Trinidad. You have to decide about your "religion" for yourself. I preferred Carib while Thomas became a Red Stripe drinker. The only beer that is brewed on the islands is brewed by the Virgin Islands Brewing Co. but those beers are brewed on the USVI (and tasted horrible!). Apparently Foxy has a microbrewery with its own ale, but we didn't try that one.

The other islands are pretty quiet...: Go to Tortola!

by catalysta

If night life & partying is your thing, there's really only one island in the BVI's that can accommodate you, and that's Tortola. It's the largest of the BVI's and by far the most populous. Cane Garden Bay & Roadtown are the most lively areas on Tortola. Quito Rymer is a popluar island recording artist who owns Quito's Gazebo at cane Garden Bay, and he can be heard playing there often. The other islands are all pretty laid back & quiet. Remember this is cruising heaven, not Miami. You'll find a little live music here & there, an occasional festival, but other than that it won't be a par-tay scene.

Pirate's Bight: local music with some pirates

by arasnosliw

After eating at the restaurant, stick around to listen to some live reggae and calypso music. There is plenty of comfortable seating on the beach, or kick off your shoes and hit the dance floor. beachwear

Ivan's: The best bar in the caribbean

by IceBear7

This is a magical place. Get a drink, get some percussion rattles and join the ever-changing-all-star band. When it's really late swim back to your boat and with every falling star you see take the wish to come back to this place in the hope that no bad person ever will discover this beach and this bar. Go barefoot.

Mine Shaft Cafe: among friends

by IceBear7

This is a very special place... the "building" is completely round with the bar area in the center, around the staff is a bar counter with some tables and chairs behind. There are no walls, just a ceiling. They also have an area without ceiling, just the stars above you...Located on Virgin Gorda, not far from the ferry or the famous Baths. They serve food like the burgers and salads, and wonderful cocktails!Life music on full moons, on Tuesdays and Fridays. Casual.
