live band by arasnosliw The Pirate's Bight is the only restaurant on land in the Bight (name of the cay) of Norman Island. It offers great local dishes. The night I went, an all-you-can eat buffet of ribs, mahi-mahi, chicken, veggies, salads, etc. was offered along with a free drink and dessert. I tried this prickly-pear sort of dessert which was excellent. There's great live music and dancing at night, offering local calypso and reggae bands.

hard to tell, but she has no top on. by arasnosliw anchored off the Bight on Norman Island, Willy T's is one of two restaurants in this cove. Music screams from here all hours of the night while wild partiers walk the plank. It is tradition while at Willy T's to "walk the plank" meaning jump off this wimpy plank on the top deck. I saw some woman wearing pirate tattooes on her breasts and nothing else. Apparently, if you jump off they give you pirate tattoos. Even better, if you jump off NAKED, you get a free t-shirt that reads "I came, I saw, I jumped!" Oh dear. What debauchery! Leave a Comment Theme: LocalDirections: the bight, norman island

pin whatever you want on the walls and ceilings by arasnosliw Located on Jost Van Dyke, Foxy's is home to crazy beachfront parties. Aside from good food and fabulous music by the legendary Foxy himself, the place is creatively decoration and fun to visit just for that. Pusser's is actually the name of the original Navy Rum in the West Indies. The rum is still manufactured today and is the most popular in the BVI. Pusser's also has a handful of Outposts (restaurants and stores) scattered throughout the island. The food is nothing spectacular, but I would go just for some of their great desserts. I had this delicious banana flambee concoction of some sort. Also, on some islands, there is not really any other dining options aside from Pusser's. Keep that in mind. The Mine Shaft Cafe on VG by catalysta For those with more discriminating palates, very fine restaurants can be found on most of the larger islands. Some allow more casual attire (no beach wear); others may require dressing up, so if this is your bag you should bring appropriate clothing for the nicer restaurants. Remember this is the BRITISH Virgin Islands, they know how to go formal in the Old World style. Dotsy's Bakery by sabsi We had taken the morning ferry from Tortola and really needed breakfast by the time we got to Anegada. The friendly staff at the car rental station told us that if we wanted "something local" we should drive to Dotsy's Bakery, a small yellow house in The Settlement that is signposted. Dotsy is a great old lady that must be at least 100 years old and - as all great old ladies - she knows how to make cakes! There's fresh cookies, cakes, bread and all kinds of yummy baked goods. An indoor seating area is available but you can also buy for take away - which we did.
We got some coconut cake and chocolate chip cookies here for breakfast. Together with a few cold drinks this didn't cost us more than a few dollars. The cake and especially the cookies were fantastic. Just one word of warning: Please don't visit the restrooms no matter how urgently you need to go. The mosquitos seem to love this place! The Sea Dog, Spanish Town VG by catalysta Why not satisfy that burger craving while still watching the waves crash on the reef, smelling the salt sea air and feeling the trade winds on your suburned face? There are beach bars everywhere serving local snacks or American style burgers or jalapeno poppers. Wash it down with a $2 bottle of Carib and atmosphere no amount of money can define, usually slung by some saucy local girl with a Caribbean lilt and a healthy feisty attitude (developed from years of fending off drunken sailors). Fischer's Cove Restaurant on VG by catalysta For my money, why bother going the formal dining route when there are so many lovely and more relaxed restaurants with locally reknowned dishes to savor? Again, beach attire is considered inappropriate, so clean up & put on your best island shirt & shorts for a wonderful meal of whatever's fresh from the sea today. Leave a Comment

We could walk to Sabastion's from our cottage. Most every evening we would go there for some delicious seafood. They most always had entertainment also. Everyone was very friendly and the restaurant is on the beach with an ocean view.

Setting up booths for the Christmas fair, VG by catalysta You may just find that the tastiest food you ate on your whole trip was a fish pate or a shrimp roti you bought from a street vendor, by a the shopping area or at a fair, or maybe down by the docks. They usually make their own tropical fruit chutneys, and the seafood is mostly fresh caught for the day's feast. Various West Antilles sauces may be there to sample (my favorite is the local yellow pepper sauce, I could almost drink it by the bottle!). Jonny cakes are another favorite, little fried cornmeal cakes that can be eaten with or without butter. Leave a Comment
