 | Grand Cayman Things To Do | Tips 121 - 130 of 159 | | Popular Things To Do | Miscellaneous Things To Do Tips | All Tips (159) The number one attraction of Grand Cayman is Stingray City. There are several tour operators in Grand Cayman that will take you here. Our particular tour was booked directly with our cruise line. The stingrays are very acclimated to humans, and will brush up against your leg like cats. They were very friendly, and we were allowed to feed them pieces of squid, which they sucked out of our hands with their vaccuum mouths. Be sure not to touch their tail or spine, or they could cut you.

The submarines are suitable for all but the very young, claustrophobic people, and the severely disabled. You get to see a sea wall, coral, and all kinds of colorful fish.

The symbol of the Cayman Islands is a sea turtle they call "Sir Turtle". Sea turtles are so plentiful here that when Christopher Columbus sailed by them he named the islands "Los Tortugas" (the turtles in Spanish). The Cayman turtle farm is where sea turtles are domestically bred and raised for research, food, and as a tourist attraction. In the Caymans, sea turtles are plentiful and not an endangered species. The turtle farm is located within Boatswains Beach Adventure Park. Home to thousands of sea turtles, the park also serves as a breeding site where newborn turtles are released into the ocean. Turtles range in size from a few inches wide to several hundred pounds. The most impressive specimen is "Old Yeller," a sixty-year-old turtle which weighs almost 600 pounds! There are several "touch tanks" which allow you to hold turtles and have pictures made, but watch out... they will give you a good splash when you release them. In addition to the turtles, the park is home to pools, shark tanks, bird aviaries, man-made reefs and all sorts of other things. Cost is around $55, but you can do turtles-only for about $18. This is a great excursion if, like us, you have small children to entertain. To get there, walk past all the people hocking island tours and simply catch one of the plentiful cabs located on Harbour Dr. outside the cruise ship tender area. A ride will cost you $6 per person each way. We had six in our party, and the total cost was $72 for round trip. There is a boat advertised all over Grand Cayman Island that will take you out (for a fee) to snorkel in the sea surrounded by large stingrays. The rays are harmless and are used to the people. This is a facsinating experience. Leave a Comment

There is a place in the Caymans called Hell. Basically, it is a rocky limestone formation. Not very interestly in my opinion. I guess to the locals this is what hell would looked like, thus the name. Leave a Comment

There was one of those booths there where you could rent snorkle gear, jet skis, parasailing, etc. Everything was expensive except for the snorkle gear. We ended up doing that and saw lots of great fish in the water! Not much coral though, I think we would have needed to be farther or in a different spot for that.

This farm has been successful in restocking in the wild green turtles. It is home to 15,000 turtles in all sizes, from newborn hatchlings to 600 pound adults. It's fun to see the little tiny ones fluttering about .You can even pick one up. They attract more than 250,000 visitors a year but even though its a touristy trap ...it is a worthwhile project!! We can use more tourist attactions like this!! Address: West Bay
