Hi -Tide is actually a great duo that sings cover and original songs around Cayman. They played poolside at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman almost every day. We got to know them during our week vacation and always enjoyed their sets. We enjoyed various dinners with their live music too. Check the Hyatt Regency concierge for details on there whereabouts. We also purchased one of their CDs, we listen to it quite often. You can pick up their CD poolside or at one of the shops located beachside at the Hyatt Regency. By mid-week, they seemed to notice us, and I always requested 'Witchy Woman', so by the end of our week long stay, they would play it without me even asking! Awesome! The CD is their 'Unplugged Classics 2'. www.hitide.net Everytime I listen to the CD, it takes me back to the Islands.

    Go to Hell
  • Tip Rating:
  • OK, it's a tourist spot. But with its own post office, where else can you send a postcard stamped from "Hell"? Rock formations that resemble pools of burnt out hell-fire attract give this island spot its character and hence, name. Be greeted by the devil-costume wearing shop owner with a friendly, "How the Hell are You?" or "Hell of a nice day, isn't it?" Various trinkets, shirts and caps can be purchased stating "I've been to Hell and Back." Have fun.

I found Hell - its on Grand Cayman
  • Tip Rating:
  • I guess this should be under Tourist Trap.. but everyone should go to Hell if you plan to be on Grand Cayman. Hell is actually an area of limestone... but a browny shade... and I guess to the first people to come to the island, it actually does appear as if that is what Hell must look like. There is a shop selling the proverbial postcards and a post-office so that they are postmarked from Hell. You can also buy the tshirts that make wise cracks about finally going to Hell, and mugs... oh you know... all the touristy trappings.

    Fantasea Tours - Stingray City
  • Tip Rating:
  • There are lots of ways to see stingray city but Fantasea tours is the best. First Captain Dexter will motor you to the city on a catamaran that holds at most 40 people and feed the stingray (and meet Lucy). Then motor to a different part of the bay for snorkling at a reef for the afternoon. Lastly, the sails are raised and you are served fresh fruit and rum punch to the music of your choice.

Swim with Stingrays at Stingray City
  • Tip Rating:
  • Trust me, this is a totally safe thing to do. Their name implies pain, but only to those that mean harm. Stingrays in Cayman love to be held, fed, petted, and you will not be dissapointed. Even my wife managed to kiss one after much prodding. We went to GC on a cruise with Carnival and didn't book the excursion on the trip intentionally, as they rip you off. We paid half of what those who booked through the cruiseline did. You will take a short bus ride to the pier to board a boat for the 30 minute ride to the sandbar. Once there you will jump into about 4 feet of water with an experienced guide who will manage to catch a stingray for everyone to touch, hold, and feed. Shortly thereafter we got some squid to feed to the rays. You'd better keep your thumb tucked in, as stingrays have powerful suction. Hoover is still looking for that technology by the way. The rays do in into a little frenzy with all that food, and I received a little hickie from an overzealous girl that sucked on my arm. No big deal, I took it in stride and had a great time. A must do thing in Grand Cayman

    Visit (lol) STINGRAY CITY
  • Tip Rating:
  • This has nothing to do with a regular city tour. You have to take a boat and do some snorkeling if you want to see and touch (feels like rubber!) these magestics animals - quite scary I must say but a marvelous experience I wouldn't have missed! In Grand Cayman, these fascinating and marvelous animals can be easily found, and hand fed in the water, on regular dive and snorkel trips run to Stingray City In mathematics, a 'ray' is a straight line extending away from a singular point, not unlike a ray of sunshine. In marine biology, a 'ray' is type of broad, flattened, cartilaginous fish closely related to the sharks. Southern Stingrays have white underbellies and slate gray, brown, or black upper surfaces. Wingspan can reach six feet (2 m) across on large individuals, however males are noticeably smaller than females. And if you want to know how to feed stingrays check the website below...

    Atlantis Submarine Dive at Night!
  • Tip Rating:
  • After the Dive on the boat ride back. - Grand Cayman
After the Dive on the boat
    ride back.

Located right on the harbor in Georgetown, Atlantis Submarine offers trips out to a protected area where they'll give you an underwater tour you are sure to remember. We've done both day and night trips and the Night was the better of the two. It was less crowded and the ocean had far more life running around on the reef. The Submarine is spacious with lots of windows so there should be little chance of claustrophobia. Although a little rocky on the surface, the ride is a smooth as silk when underwater. The typical ride goes to a depth of about 100 feet. They have a special sub that will take you down the wall to 1000'. If you do that, let me know! It's on my list.

  • Address: Across from the Hardrock in Georgetown.
  • Directions: If you are heading into town from Seven Mile Beach, Atlantis is on the right across from the Hardrock. There is some parking but it is limited. I'd take a cab. Atlantis will call a cab for you when you return as well.

If I could swim with the Stingrays... wait! I did!
  • Tip Rating:
  • A trip out to Stingray City is maybe not a must, but a great experience. For those that can scuba dive... they can go out to the wall and experience far more. However, if you aren't a good swimmer, or a diver, or you don't have the time, then a few hours to enjoy Stingrays as you had never done before is well worth it. They really are like cats, coming and brushing up against your legs. You can get your picture taken holding one, or put out your hand with some food on it and feel it vaccum it up. There were people of all ages there. We were anchored on a sandbar so there was quite shallow water if you didn't actually want to swim.

    Stingray Sandbar
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is our most memorable trip we've taken! We had so much fun swimming with the stingrays. At first I was a little scared that I might get "bit" but after a while it wasn't so bad. There are SO many of them swimming around that you have to watch under you so that you don't step on one when putting your feet down in the water. Most tours have a chum bucket so that you can feed the stingrays. When feeding, make sure you tuck in your thumb or you might get it bit! Oh, and NEVER put the chum in your pocket because you will have many hungry stingrays sucking at your shorts.

    STINGRAY CITY
  • Tip Rating:
  • off the shore of Grand Caymen is a sandbank where stingrays gather, take a boat out and you can swim with them - its an unforgettable experience. Contrary to what many people think they dont sting, their bodies feel like velvet when they brush against you. They have little fear of us probably because so many people go there to swim and feed them but they dont seem tame and they arent caged, its just a bunch of people and fish swimming together in the warm Carribean. Try to go when the sea isnt too choppy, and dont forget to take an underwater camera
