If you haven't done it before, do it. The most beautiful parts of these islands are underwater. Red Sail Sports has a great resort course which includes an open water dive. The instructors were attentive and made me feel safe and secure. I hooked and taking my certification courses back home so I can have more!

Not well advertised, but one of the most fantastic snorkel stops we have ever visited! Coral reefs, lots of fish, and you snorkel around the boatwreck which sticks up out of the water. Fish in, around, and under the boat everywhere you look. Fantastic spot! Address: Intersection of West Bay Rd and N Church StDirections: On the very southern end of Seven Mile Beach just before entering Georgetown. Slightly north of the intersection of West Bay Rd and N Church St, just south of KFC.Website: http://www.caymanislandsdiscounts.com/OffshoreSnorkeling.htm#GTGamma

We met a great couple on the beach and they brought us out to snorkel. We saw many great fish and others saw stingrays. There is no reason not to purchase a decent snorkel of our own and go out and enjoy the beauty of the aquatic life in Grand Cayman, just be sure to go to a beach with clear water as some of the northern tip beaches have harder sand and are cloudy, Cemetery Beach was great!

by carambar If you make a crew with a stop in Grand Cayman, do not buy the Stingray City excursion on board. You will find a lot of people ashore who will take you there for much cheaper. It is one of the most famous attractions there and it is really worth it! You go by boat to a lagoon (shallow waters) where dozens of stingrays will dance around you; you can feed them, touch them, swim with them. Very touristic of cours, but still a great experience. Address: Stingray CityDirections: Lots of offers at and around the pier

by onestepaway This was a very neat place, very small and the time there was short but well worth it! The Hell post office opened in 1962 is still active today, it gives tourist the chance to send postcards back home. It took ours a few weeks to reach them but it was still a neat idea. These formation behind the post office/store are iron shore formations have been estimated at 1.5 million years old. These formations are possibly what HELL looks like, lol!

Came here as part of our shore excursion - it's a whole adventure park, and from the website it looks very cool. We went in to see the turtles in the breeding pond. You can see turtles of various sizes swimming in the ponds, but we all went over to the yearling pool where, as you can see from the pics, we got to hold sea turtles! This was a very unique experience for two city girls, and we really enjoyed it, even though we got the psycho-turtle who wanted back in the water badly! When they start slapping you with their flippers/fins, let's just say - YOU FEEL IT! Lisa's arm was red for a little while... I would definitely go back and spend more time if given the opportunity!

The nice thing about grand cayman is the current is hardly a factor when you dive so you can do so easly from shore. all you have to have is a snorkel googs and fins, then just walk down the beach until you can see dark patches a few hundred yards off shore (thats a reef) put your gear on and head out there. when i was there i saw sooo many sea turtles sting rays, parrot fish, puffer fish and so on that you hardly get to see usualy. the vis was not as good as places like cozumel but the things you saw were ones you normally dont get a chance to. and here is a tip for snorkeling or scuba diving, the best defogger ive ever used was actually johnson and johnson baby shampoo rub a little on the inside of your lens then rise if off (dont wipe it off) just before you get in the water and you will enjoy fog free diving as long as you keep your mask on.

Since this is THE thing to do in Grand Cayman... I of course had to check it out! It was worth every penny!! We booked the tour through our cruise ship, although I know you can book a land tour if you are specifically vacationing on the island. It may sound scary, it may be a bit expensive, but trust me... do it! Our tour bus took us to the pier in which our boat awaited... next stop Stingray City. There were about 55 people on our boat and it was a bit crowded, but we were all comfortably seated and ready for the ride. The actual boat trip out to Stingray City took about 45 minutes and the water did get a little rough (i.e. people were getting very wet!) But the sun was shining and it was beautiful out so no worries. We were given snorkeling vests and instructions upon our arrival to the sandbar. Please note: no aqua shoes or sandals are allowed in the water... barefeet only. And do us all a favor... quite screaming everytime a stingray comes near you! That's what you're paying for people. Once in the water, there are several locals who will be holding stingrays... you will be given the chance to pet them, hold them and even kiss them (for good luck of course). Watch out... if a guide lifts one in your direction... the "spit" pretty far! :) They of course are wild animals so acting appropriate and not pulling their tails, etc is polite (and safe). But they will swim around you, rubbing up on your legs as they go by. They actually reminded me of cats... rubbing against your legs for attention. It was crazy and fun at the same time. Leave a Comment Address: in the ocean... on a sandbar! :)

We were on a Royal Carribean cruise that stopped at Grand Cayman. All excursions were canceled due to weather--which was weird because the weather was perfect--and I was so disappointed because I had been really looking forward to the Turtle Farm. I am a turtle/tortoise lover, they bring me so much joy. So we found a private tour guide to take us to the Turtle Farm along with Hell and a rum cake factory. She was a horrible tour guide for several reasons but mainly because she gave us NO TIME!! We had 20 minutes at the Turtle Farm, no time for the gift shop and barely any time with the turtles. She spent tons of time at the rum cake factory shoving her mouth full of free samples... but I digress. I LOVED the turtles and would have loved to spend more time here. However, the turtles are kept in extremely overcrowded tanks. The bigger ones were tripping over each other, they really have very little room. Also, I noticed quite a few neck injuries on the bigger turtles. I was saddened and wish I could help each and every turtle. With a twinge of guilt, I enjoyed picking up some of the smaller turtles. They are so cute. I was elated, overjoyed at being near such gorgeous creatures. But my heart did ache for the poor beauties. Leave a Comment

Definitely, one of the greatest things to do on Grand Cayman is just to walk on the beach - during the day, at night - alone, with a friend, with a stranger - with horses, dogs, or even cows. The color of the ocean is incredible - I have never seen such bright shades of blue and turquoise! Unbelievable. And, itīs even more fun if you drink a beer or a mudslide while you are watching the sun setting or the full moon .... Address: Seven Mile Beach - but also in West BayDirections: Between Georgetown and West Bay
