The airport is located here and the cruise ship passengers arrive at the town's docks. Georgetown has all of the shopping, which includes the highly sought after rum cake as well as jewelry. The main restaurants are located here and various island tours often meet here. The buildings are painted in attractive pastel colors and the city seems to be well kept. Of course, it can be expensive. Likely, anything you need to be doing such as renting a car, visiting a bank, or planning your trip will be done here. Leave a Comment

Often, a tour of Coral Gardens can be combined with a visit to Stingray City. As we all know, the ocean's coral reef systems are in jeopardy. The Cayman Islands are an excellent place to see a living reef. The coral gardens itself was great because the water was not really too deep. You could see a lot of the coral and fish very close to you. One must be careful not to touch the living coral since it is fragile. Leave a Comment

This is one of the best areas of sandy beach on the island. Of course, many of the hotels and resorts are located along its stretch. 7 mile beach starts just north of Georgetown and runs its course along the western shore of the island. This is your ideal place to sunbathe, swim, snorkel, and look for coral and shells that has washed on the beach. I saw quite a few hermit crabs while walking along the beach. You look down and notice that some of the shells seem to be moving. They are. Leave a Comment

Chances are you will be visiting Georgetown while you are on the islands. There are few historic buildings left, but if you need to go shopping and souvenir-hunting this is the right place. Leave a Comment

You can go on a boat that take you out to the Barrier Reef and 'Stingray City" where you will find friendly and tame stingrays en masse, waiting to be fed. A bit touristy (at least the snorkeling version of it), but fun nonetheless. Leave a Comment

Another elusive beauty. There were less Tiger Wings around in the afternoon, so I was happy to get even this good a shot. Tiger Wings are from the lowlands and forests on the plains of Thailand and Malaysia. Leave a Comment

Any clues as to what I should call this bug? Actually, I am open to feedback on the identities of any of the butterflies on this page, since I am clearly no expert! Leave a Comment
