Stingray City is a must . Of course it's a big tourist attraction, which in a sense we tend to stray from as it can sometimes distract you from the genuinity of the people and their culture, but this place is incredible! Where else can you swim, feed and feel stingrays on every side, sliding the undersides on you as they swim past!!!!??? Larry wasn't shy about grabbing them or holding them, but if you're not that daring, the guide would let you pet the one he was holding, set it on your head or rub your back with it!!! Don't be scared of them, stingrays have a 'knee-jerk' reaction'. They only sting if they're stepped on or injured, etc. Leave a Comment Directions: A short, beautiful boat trip from Grand Cayman. Anyone there can direct you. If you go into downtown, you can find tours that will take you and others for a small? fee. ;-)

A long time ago, some fishermen threw the remains of their catch into the sea where stingrays often were found. The stingrays became accustomed to being fed and being around people. Once they became tame, this place became an attraction. Now, many tours are available to bring you out to where the stingrays are so that you can have a close encounter with them. They did not seem that dangerous to me. The tour boats will have some squid that you can feed them. It is even possible to lift one out of the water if you are careful. Even though the water is shallow where the stingrays are, it is good to have a mask so you can see them underwater. Leave a Comment
