If you haven't done it before, do it. The most beautiful parts of these islands are underwater. Red Sail Sports has a great resort course which includes an open water dive. The instructors were attentive and made me feel safe and secure. I hooked and taking my certification courses back home so I can have more!

This was a very neat place, very small and the time there was short but well worth it! The Hell post office opened in 1962 is still active today, it gives tourist the chance to send postcards back home. It took ours a few weeks to reach them but it was still a neat idea. These formation behind the post office/store are iron shore formations have been estimated at 1.5 million years old. These formations are possibly what HELL looks like, lol!

Swimming with Stingray's

Swimming & feeding the stingrays off a sandbar off the coast of Grand Cayman is an experience you'll never forget. Red Sails provide a trip out on one of their boats, they let you swim & feed the stingrays (all friendly), get your picture taken because no one will believe you when you tell them.

Snorkle at 7 Mile Beach

There was one of those booths there where you could rent snorkle gear, jet skis, parasailing, etc. Everything was expensive except for the snorkle gear. We ended up doing that and saw lots of great fish in the water! Not much coral though, I think we would have needed to be farther or in a different spot for that.

Lay around on 7 Mile Beach

We tried to walk here from the pier but ran out of sidewalk. And we didn't want to walk on the road! So we went back to the pier and took a taxi for $4 to the beach. Well worth it, the beach was a little farther than I thought.
It was kinda cloudy that day, but the sun would peek in and out every now and then. It was nice to just lay around. The first part of the day the beach was quiet with hardly any people, but by the afternoon that is when hundreds seem to come, so we left.

Dive Eden Rock, Very Cool

A short walk from the cruise dock is the Eden Rock Dive Center. You can dive some great reefs right off the back of the dive shop. Snorkeling is free. If you don't bring your own gear, they rent it to you. Locker rental is only $10 USC, $5 of which is returned when you return the key. I did some snorkeling with the kids. We all had a great time.

Have fun.

We met a great couple on the beach and they brought us out to snorkel. We saw many great fish and others saw stingrays. There is no reason not to purchase a decent snorkel of our own and go out and enjoy the beauty of the aquatic life in Grand Cayman, just be sure to go to a beach with clear water as some of the northern tip beaches have harder sand and are cloudy, Cemetery Beach was great!

Hell's Rocks
1 more image

One interesting stop in Grand Cayman is to the town of "Hell" which got its name from rock formations that came from an ancient sea bed. These dark and ghoulish rocks give the illusion of what "Hell" must look like. You may also send postcards from Hell's post office, which will make for comical gifts to friends seeing as how they will be postmarked "From Hell." There is also a shop there that sells devilish souvenirs and t-shirts to commemorate your visit.

The Granddaddy of them all

One interesting stop to make in Grand Cayman is to the Turtle Farm. Many different species of sea turtle live here and are bred here. You are allowed to pick up a few of the baby turtles. This is also a good place to stop and order a drink or snack and get out of the hot sun!

Stingrays heading for our boat
1 more image

The number one attraction of Grand Cayman is Stingray City. There are several tour operators in Grand Cayman that will take you here. Our particular tour was booked directly with our cruise line. The stingrays are very acclimated to humans, and will brush up against your leg like cats. They were very friendly, and we were allowed to feed them pieces of squid, which they sucked out of our hands with their vaccuum mouths. Be sure not to touch their tail or spine, or they could cut you.
