some strip joint in san jose....some guys from my hotel..brought me around the city one night.. they took me to some random strip place.. the unique qualities, were the fattes women i have ever seen in tiny silver shiny string bakin's... ewww.. stretchmark city.. everything i hope i never turn into.. was there.. and they were ugly old fat chicks sitting on nasty american men who were probably there on business.. yah right!.. putting your dollars in some fat strippers folds.. nasty.. i laughed really loud and ran out laughing so hard.. it was the funniest most pathetic place.. yah those guys that took me there were laughing so hard.. and then they took me to bar that was a hotel.. and a brothel.. and a crack house too.. we left pretty fast.. it was full of american men in there 40's .. business looking guys.. and people selling drugs.. it was annoying we couldnt find one decent bar..

MalPais Surf Camp(if your on the nicoyan penninsula this place has the normal $1us beers surf videos,good food/though it is cheaper down the street. a hammock and most of all A MECHANICAL BULL which I had never ridden before but was very fun at $1.50 us.per ride

My favorite spot is El cuartel de la boca del monte.It is a bar & restaurant, with excellent music, nice people, and great coctails.Once or twice a week they have costarican bands playing tropical music. Fantastic athmospere, speacially Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. Cassual clothing is fine.

Small clubs with live bands are found almost everywhere in Sn Jose and the surrounding areas. Anounced on local radio station and newspapers.... You should not miss it going to a live music club. Merengue, Salsa....

El Pueblo in San Jose is the place to go. There are a few bars in a small area plus restaurants and shops. it is alot of funA little bit of everything from dancing to eating to shopping depends on the specific place but in general i wouldn't show up in shorts a t-shirt and some flip-flops

People usually go home early...

People usually go home early at night in the city, but if eat your dinner early as well, there are some cool places worth visiting. For example the Jazz Café You can as you want, unless you plan to go out with sandals or some ripped t-shirt

Ahh, the nightlife. Ticos...

Ahh, the nightlife. Ticos love to dance. I can't emphasize the word love enough. I went to a disco once, during a big party the city of Atenas throws. I had fun, but I ended up drinking beer and playing foosball. That's alright, I got a great kick out of watching them all dance. Once in a while we'd go out to bars in and around the city. All I can say about the beer is DON'T DRINK THE IMPERIAL. It's horrible!!!! The bavaria is much better. Laid back for the bars, the discos you might want to dress up a little more, but girls, don't show too much skin 'cause you won't be left alone!!!!

There are different ambiences...

There are different ambiences in San José's night life. The bohemian side highlights are 'El Cuartel de la Boca del Monte' on the East side of San José, wich gets particulary good on mondays. Also the live shows at the 'Jazz Café'. Also with a great ambience the weekend nights at little more exclusive bar of 'La Cava'on the west side of the city. As the favourites for dancing and meeting or flirting around we have the clubs of Escazú, Like 'Frankie Goes', or 'La Cantina', or a really nice touristical spot and some kind of night life 'mall' called 'El Pueblo' downtown. It has a few disco rooms, bars and restaurats for all likes. Anything goes, try to avoid sneakers and sporty clothes when you go out at night.

My favorite places for nightlife are: El Cuartel de la Boca del Monte, which is sort of a bohemia bar...on Sundays 'Los Salieris' play rock and 'nueva trova'..its fun. They have good food and you meet interesting people.Nightlife at the beach is also great...The Jazz Café is also a great spot for those who like jazz...On Mondays and Tuesdays there's an open jam, where great musicians from the country usually play...and they invite anyone who wants to join them.. Casual!
