Restaurant in Costa Rica might not be the best option. For example, Chinese food is heavily adjusted to local taste. Another thing is the soda. Despite the name it is not kind of water but rather kind of restaurant, cheap local one. They offer local food called casado which consists of beef, the regular fare of frijoles and aroz and much more for a very affordable sum of money. Plus all the atmosphere of a cross between Latino exuberance (loud flowery music) and American bar setup. One can watch several TVs at a time and listen to music that does not correspond to the any of the pictures on the TV sets. The best beef was sampled here in metropolitan San Jose and not in the upgraded soda versions of the touristy Fortuna, despite the fact that it is smack in the middle of cowboy country.
Favorite Dish: Casado
All of the food was served fresh and delicious. Dining is al fresco, with an unbeatable view of the Pacific.
Favorite Dish: We loved grilled fish salad. A fresh fish served on a bed of mixed greens, with tomato, avocado, and a wonderful dressing.
