After hiking up this mountain, falling, injuring myself, and meeting a farmer, he told me all about this lookout point. I had passed it while hiking up, but didn't think twice about it. Apparently at night, the locals come up here to watch the sunset, hang out, and drink. I wish I had a map to tell you exactly where this is, but I don't.
I'll give it a shot:
If heading the direction from Cartago and the bus stop, follow the main street until you see Bar La Primavera. From there turn right and continue on 2.5 blocks. This is the direction AWAY from the river. You will see a hostel/B&B called Montaña Linda. From there turn left again until you see a gravel road heading up a small mountain. Head up this gravel road for 5-10 minutes and you'll find the lookout point. This, if I am correct, should be the southeastern corner of town.
