Another popular item was the wood handicrafts available. They make nice gifts for people back home (at least those that don't like coffee). The woods they use are in many lovely colours including red, yellow and purple. They use these woods to make all kinds of items. Some can be found for very small amount of money (less than $5 USD for little trivets that look like butterflies) and others are very expensive (more than $50 USD for large serving bowls. The only problem with these is getting them home, if you decide to pack them in your checked luggage, pack them very very well or they might break.

	Photo albums made of local materials

At many of the shops in the Pacific Northwest we saw beautiful photo albums made of local materials including leaves, seed pods, sticks, rocks and shells. There are several different styles and sizes so if you don't see what you want at the first store don't settle, because there is sure to be more. At the resort these were more expensive and the ones in the tourist towns often came with a couple postcards inside. This is a great way to store you trip photos!
