Favorite thing: Take a walk along the beach either way. If you go towards Punta Guiones walk at low tide, the rock formations are really interesting. Bring along a snorkle, fins and mask there are some beautiful tropical fish that hang around in the rock pools.
If you walk the other way, take the beach walk to the next beach- Carillo-it is only a km. or so and well worth it, if you have the time. The beach has a strong high tide with a sharp angle.
There is a small fishing setllement at the end of that beach before the rock heads begin. You can climb our along the rocks there, but beware of the high tides. I have never snorkled there because the tide seems to be stronger.
Fondest memory: Summer 1971: Traveling by horse from Buena Vista and staying at a small hotel on Samara Beach. Getting lost at night during an intense thunderstorm near the Terciopelo River.
What we miss the most is the tranquility before the onslaught of tourists.
