Panderia Bohemia: Awesome pasteries
I found this great bakery on the street that parallels the main street in Samara to the east. It’s called Bohemia and they have some awesome pastries. I got a pineapple pastry (still hot out of the oven) with coffee for only 400 colones (about 80 cents)
Restaurant Coco: Nice quiet restaurant, good food
A very nice restaurant right on the middle of Main St. Walk back to the back yard for the open-air restaurant. They have the most extensive menu I saw in Costa Rica, and the food was real good.
Pizza & Pasta a GoGo: Pizza Pizza
Located on the Main Street, in front of Hotel Gioda. They have big plates of pasta and big tasty pizzas among other things. Huge selection of pizzas. I had the pizza, and it was good and reasonably priced. Someone next to me had a big bowl of pasta and it looked great too.
El Lagarto: Best BBQ in Samara
This restaurant has a giant BBQ along the side and specializes in chicken and steaks. We had cocktails, split a salad and both had big steaks with a large potato and vegetables. Our bill with tax and tip came to $56 (pricey for Costa Rica and the most expensive meal we ate) but was well worth it. I saw someone being served the chicken which looked pretty good and was only $9.50.
Street vendor on main drag: MOST DELICIOUS CEVICHE EVER
This is not exactly a restaurant. In front it is just a friendly guy on the main street leading to the beach entrance who has a cooler full of delicious ceviche that he will sell to you in a plastic cup. Can choose to add mayonaise, hot sauce, pico de gallo.
1000 colones gets you a generous serving. Food was safe and delicious and very refreshing on a hot day.
Restaurant Jardin Marino: Tipico Comida
A soda, serving typical Costa Rican food. Fast and inexpensive. Lots of seating, open air dining.
Located on Main St, across from soccer field.
Casa Paraiso: argentinian food
Run by an Argentinean transplant. They have simple pizzas and chicken/beef/ham&cheese empanadas and maybe a few other things. I had 2 empanadas and a beer for lunch for 2000 colones, or almost $4.
