Some of the cab drivers that we used were scary people behind the wheel. They like to pass other cars at places that they can't see anyone coming around a corner and these roads have some VERY long drops next to the roads. Our drive from the airport to the resort should have been just over an hour. While he was passing another car on a down hill turn he had a front tire blowout. One side of the road was a cliff and the other was a stone drainage trench. He was able to stop about a foot from landing us in the trench, better then the cliff I guess. This delay added another hour to the drive. I spent $200 dollors US to fly my family by helicopter from the small airport by the resort to the main airport to fly out on the day we left, I think it was worth the cost.
If using a rental vehicle 'stick' to the main roads. I have heard of persons driving of the edge of cliffs.
Beware of this cliff, actually it is the highest peak on the island.
