    Nosara Things to Do

The south end of Playa Guiones is much different than the rest of the beach. Here the beach ends at a bluff over looking the ocean. The south end of Playa Guiones is beautiful in its own way. Very few people come here because the access road is not marked. Playa Flamingo was one of the beautiful of the beaches we encountered while in Guanacaste. Brasilito Warnings and Dangers

The "seashell beach" was mentioned by several resources I encountered. The access was stated to be from Brasilito on a small road. This road begins as a rutted, dirt road, but soon becomes just the sand itself. There is a resort perched just to the west of Brasilito, so access to the beach has been made difficult. If you want to reach it, you'll...

Tenorio

In a country filled with amazing nature, the hike into Volcan Tenorio National Park to see the Rio Celeste waterfall, outlook and thermal springs is probably one of the best short hikes you can do in your life.

The amazing thing about this park is Rio Celeste which has pure light blue water that is indeed as blue as the summer sky. It is a rare and wonderful thing. The river is formed by the meeting of two streams, each saturated with another chemical. One stream is rich in sulphur. The other is rich in copper. Both are white. When they meet - miracle! - there is a chemical reaction and the joined stream becomes filled with copper sulphate, which is pure blue. The river then flows downhill and forms a gorgeous waterfall. The whole thing takes place in a pristine virgin forest, filled with birds and chriping insects. Bring an insect repellant, sturdy walking shoes to brave the muddy trail, and be prepared to be awed.

From the park entrance it takes about 45 minutes to get to the waterfall, a distance of about 1km. New stairs and handrails are being installed for the final descent, which makes it very comfortable. Then, continue for another 45 minutes uphill to the observation point (mirador), to see the meeting of the streams. From there, another 45 minutes downhill to the river bank and the theramal springs (no swimming allowed, the chemicals may harm you). Heaven!
