Heredia: Where you find the National Park

Heredia: Where you find the National Park, Heredia

risse73 Says:  I went on a day tour passing through the province of Heredia where the famous Braulio Carrillo National Park is located. The scenery is lush--full of vegetation and misty right after a downpour. It is close to San Jose and you often pass through this national park en route...

Zip Lining

Zip Lining, Heredia

Hampstead9 Says:  If you want to conquer your fear of heights, Zip Lining is definitely for you. There are different heights and different lengths for each cable. There are usually twelve cables. The first one is this puny thing, which can get you over confident. By the time you get the 6th...

HAVE A BREAK IN THE PARQUE CENTRAL, Heredia

Sininen Says:  Act like locals and sit in the many benches of the Parque Central, look at people and what they are doing, read a book, write your diary or post cards home or have a little to eat or just rest your legs - this is your place.

COLONIAL BUILDINGS IN HEREDIA

TAXI TIPS Leave for destinations w/plenty of time.

Heredia Avenida 4

Leave to whatever destination your headed to with plenty of time. If saving money is important this helps because you can take the bus. If you do decide to take a taxi, the taxi driver sums you up and usually decides on how much to charge you based on if you look like your in a hurry and have no choice but to pay. If you leave with plenty of time you can bargain with the driver BEFORE YOU ENTER THEIR CAB OR BEFORE YOU GIVE THEM YOUR BAGS, or wait for another taxi if that person is not giving you the desired price. This is not mean, it's being smart. They will easily take advantage of you if you let them. P.S. It's better if you ask them to use the meter in their cab but most will not especially if your going from Heredia to San Jose. If they don't use the meter then decide on a price BEFORE ENTERING the cab.

What to buy: Sexy womens clothes and shoes galore! They are all over the place in Heredia. However, they are not cheaper in the states which many people tend to think they will be. They are about the same price and equivelant in style to Wet Seal. They run small because the women there are generally tiny and thin, but they are super cute!

What to pay: Same price as Wet Seal

Warnings and Dangers

People will jip you on your change esp. taxi & bus

Traveling around public transportation in Costa Rica is great because it's really cheap, etc. However, many many people will try to jip you on the amount of change they return to you. This was especially the case for me with bus drivers and taxi's. It's important that you learn numbers, it's the best. But most importantly keep tract of how much you give and how much you should recieve back. In addition when traveling public transportation carry lots of change. That way you can give them exact change and not flash your bills. It's usually very hectic with the public transportation system and traveling around so they use that as an advantage. They like to take advantage of tourists, especially if you don't have the words to explain. So keep track!!!
